Yarrowpaw skidded down the mountain's stony path, the birds were singing loudly and the sun was standing on its highest, the wind pulling in the few bushes. The sound of the thorny fall was roaring behind her, and she was trying her best to not fall on the loose laying stones. When Yarrowpaw could glimpse camp, she slowed down her phase. She trotted around the large mountain, that had a cave inside of it, where the camp was. And all the dens were smaller caves. When she had come around the mountain, she trotted into the small but long tunnel that led to the camp entrance. It was dark and quiet in the long tunnel, and she could only see the light in the end. When she had come out of the tunnel, she had the path leading to the river between two large mountains, and on the other side she had the entrance into the camp.

She walked over to the bushes and pushed herself forward, when she had come into the camp clearing, her clanmates were surrounding Shadowwshiker, the deputy. She could see the tom's grayish pelt in the middle of many colored pelts from the other warriors. One of the warriors surrounding Shadowwhisker was her mentor, Halfmoon. "Waspwing and Canionmist, take one of the apprentices with you to go check the border to SnakeClan, some of their apprentices has been crossing over and stole prey", Shadowwhisker said and the two she-cats walked out from the group, Canionmist waved Skypaw to the patrol, and the three cats walked past Yarrowpaw.

Yarrowpaw tilted over a vole, she and Moonpaw were eating prey outside of the apprentice den. The sun was going down behind the mountains, and were casting shadows over the camp clearing. "Hey, Yarrowpaw!", a cat said her name and she looked up. Reedpaw was running over to Yarrowpaw and Moonpaw from the elders' den. "Hey", Yarrowpaw greeted the tom when he came and sat down beside her. "How's it going?", he asked and smiled. When she was just about to open her mouth to answer, she could hear her sister muttering behind her: "It's going good", the dark gray she-cat said and sat up, lashing her tail on the ground. "Uhm, good", Reedpaw answered and looked over at Moonpaw. Yarrowpaw didn't like the awkward silence between her sister and friend. "How about you, Reedpaw?", she asked him and turned over to face the ginger-tabby tom. "Very good, I've been practicing some new fighting techniques", he said proudly. Yarrowpaw nodded and flicked her ears when Moonpaw got up to her paws, she walked past Yarrowpaw and whispered something in Reedpaw's ear before wandering away. The happiness in the tom's eyes disappeared and he lowered his head, glancing over at Moonpaw who was walking away. Yarrowpaw laid her head to the side, the weird feelings the two apprentices felt for each other was stinging like a thorn in her chest. She didn't like the fact that her sister and friend didn't like each other. She didn't even understand why they didn't like each other. After a few heartbeats of thinking, Yarrowpaw shook her head and brushed Reedpaw with her tail tip over his back. "Have you eaten anything?", she asked with a soft voice and leaned at the tom's side. She then froze, why am I acting like this? She asked herself and glanced up at her friend's face. The tom gave her a warm smile, and she felt herself comforted by his closeness. She wasn't sure why, but she had a soft spot for Reedpaw. Yarrowpaw rested her head on the tom's shoulder and closed her eyes, inhaling the sweet scent of his fur.

Yarrowpaw opened her eyes to see nothing else but black around her, she turned around to only see more black. When panic started creeping closer to her mind, she fled forward as fast as she could. Her paws carried her over a cold and dark ground. She felt the wind blowing in her ears and her paws starting to get sore. There was nothing else but black surrounding her, and when she tried looking back she could see something big following her, fear and panic was the only thing filling her head, and she prayed to StarClan that her legs would carry her longer.

Yarrowpaw found herself slowing down, and her paws clawing desperately in something warm and thick liquid. When she gazed down at her paws, she could see a path of blood. She skidded into a halt. Panting, she looked around her. "Please, save me StarClan!", she yowled into the black void. The blood started getting higher, and it was getting stuck on her belly-fur. Yarrowpaw raised her head, looking down with fear burning in her eyes. The red liquid raised over her body, and the ground under her paws disappeared and she sank down under the blood. She tried screaming for help, but the blood filled her mouth and she couldn't breath.

Yarrowpaw shut her eyes open, letting out a terrified screech. She found herself in her moss bedding in the apprentice den, Moonpaw sleeping beside her peacefully. "It was just a nightmare", Yarrowpaw told herself and got up on shaky paws. Carefully, she walked past the other's sleeping bodies and left the den. It was dark outside, and there were no movements in the clearing. Yarrowpaw walked over to the middle of the camp, she laid down under one of the bushes close to the Hill stump. She rested her head on her paws, inhaling the frisk scent of the camp, listening to the calming sound of the wind. Eventually, she fell asleep.
