2 hours had passed, and as the day was leaving after and going into evening, Edward remained fixed in his office chair, anxious about Fleur's warning. "Shake me to the core? What does that mean?!" he asked himself. As he went through his mind, there was no answer. Edward got out of his chair and paced around his office, he felt frustrated. Why did it feel like something was happening around them? Something was definitely not right, he just couldn't figure it out! Finally, he sat down behind his desk and stared at the bottle of wine he was left with, then picked it up and drank from it, to calm the uncertainty.
Unaware of his lover's impending arrival to his office, Vox headed down the opposite corridor, his hands doused with the liquid of a cover up. He examined his arms, plucking out the feathers of suspicion. His walk showed no signs of weakness, pure confidence that was infectious to anyone who walked by him. By most means of measurement, his facade was perfect. That moment, he felt his heart begin to flutter, "I guess it's time for a rendezvous with Eddie...", he thought as he approached the door to the office.
Edward was still pacing back and forth when suddenly he heard the click of the door handle unlocking. "I know it's you Vox, come in, my love." Hearing those words made the faerie grin to himself as he entered, shutting the door softly behind him. He strode confidently over to the desk and sat down on the edge of it, crossing one leg over the other, knocking off some documents in the process. Looking up at him, Edward smiled gently, "Ah, there you are, how are things?", Vox asked.
"Vox, please be careful when you're sitting on my desk...", the vampire said affectionately. Vox pouted at the man before getting down and picking up his mess, "Don't you realise how useless these papers are, Eddie?", he asked mockingly. Edward sighed and shook his head, "No, I'm well aware of their importance to our future plans, they are just very important." Vox rolled his eyes at the man's stubbornness, "Alright then, what's this for?", he pondered. "The capos left it for me...", answered Edward.
"Boring...", moaned Vox, throwing documents around after skimming them. "Look at this, what the hell is 'milk supply'?", he groaned. Document after document he tossed aside, until he got to a rather crumpled paper. He read it through thoroughly, looking rather disturbed before tossing it away with the others. "What was that one about?", he said curiously. Edward gave him a clean answer, "It's just, Catoria found it rather important...".
"Catoria you say?", Vox's smile turned to a focused expression. "Yes, why do you ask?", replied Edward. The fae shrugged nonchalantly, "Nothing...I just wonder whether or not we could use it ourselves someday, or scrap it, your choice...", he responded with a smirk. Edward looked at Vox in bewilderment, "Catoria's got it all under control, we don't need to interfere. Are you okay, Vox?". Vox put a hand on Edward's leg and rubbed it as he passed, "You're a bit nosey, aren't you?", he scoffed.
Edward blushed slightly at the contact, but soon returned to his usual composure, "Perhaps you should try getting along with Catoria more, Edward, seeing as she was seemingly integral to the syndicate's, and it could help you both become closer." Vox smirked, giving his lover a shoulder massage. Carefully, the fae raised his hand, "Catoria was rather responsible for such a provocative woman, and I'm sure your meeting with her will be eventful to say the least...".
A dreary air encapsulated the room, and Edward could smell it, "What's that smell, Vox? Perfume?", the man was getting more and more conflicted about his partner. Fleur and Catoria's words entered his head again, Fleur's sentiment about the change that would shake him to the core, Catoria's warning about the mysterious gas. "This smell...roses, nettles, a hint of blood, could it be?", he thought.
"Vox, what's in this concoction of yours? It's rather...pleasent...", questioned the boss. He gave Edward a blank stare and stood up slowly, walking past him without answering. After he disappeared, Edward became more confused, then he began to feel uneasy. This wasn't like his partner; this was like him being possessed by someone else. But how could Vox, lovable Vox hold such a weapon? Out of pure fear, he rushed out of his seat and took off running. He didn't feel safe anymore...
