Movie Night

"Movie night, guys!" Cody exclaimed, prancing around the bots' feet with the remote in his hands. He looked excitedly at his arriving family members.

Kade was carrying a bucket of popcorn, sneaking little handfuls. He yelped when a hand quickly slapped his arm, glaring at his twin sister. Katilyn wagged a finger in front of his face before taking the bucket away.

Dani stumbled with her large stack of blankets, having Graham carry a bunch of pillows. "Do we really need all of these?" he asked, voice muffled from the fabric.

"Of course, we need them. Some of us are going to be sitting on the floor." Dani responded, dropping the blankets by the bot-size couch. "Dad should be coming with the drinks. Cody, go see if he needs help."

"No need, Dani," Cheif commented. He held a long tray of mugs and two thermoses.

It was tradition that after a long day of work, everyone got together to spend time with the family. Movie night was the most enjoyable, unlike board game night. Those always ended in a tragedy.

Dani and Graham situated themselves on the floor next to their robotic partners. Each had prepared a cozy nest of pillows and blankets. "Do we really need all these?" Dani mocked, throwing a pillow at her younger brother.

"Humm, Dad, we might need more popcorn," Cody said, holding up the popcorn bucket full of leftover kernels.

"You're right," Chief responded, looking toward his eldest son, "Kade, we need more popcorn."

As Kade dragged himself toward the elevator, Katilyn filled her pink Alice in Wonderland cup with homemade hot chocolate and walked toward the couch. "Excuse me, sir, but you're in my seat."

"I didn't see your name on it," Heatwave retorted, taking a page out of Kade's book.

The female firefighter placed her cup on the long coffee table before climbing onto the couch. "If you don't get up, I'll sit on you," she said in a playful threatening tone.

Heatwave smirked, "Oh really?" His orange optics trailed the human as she made her approach. "I'd like to see you try." Katilyn huffed, climbing up his silver thigh and perched on his knee.

"That's all you got?" she heard Kade shout from below. A newly filled popcorn bucket was in his hands. "I could do better."

"Really?"

Bewildered, Heatwave sat up straighter, "Do I look like a gymnasium?"

"Chill out, Heats. It'll be over once I win," Kade announced, making progress up the bot's chassis. Proudly, he sat on the mech's shoulder. "See."

Katilyn huffed and stood on Heatwave's knee, "A little help, please?" A servo dipped down, and the female climbed aboard before it lifted to Heatwave's helm. With ease, Katilyn sat on the rim of the firebot's helmet. "You were saying?"

~~~~~~
"So, what movie are we watching?" Graham asked, skimming through the movie rack.
"Something with cute fluffy animals!" Blades exclaimed while his partner added, "Something romantic,"
Kade made a disgusted noise, "Nah, we want some comedy."
"Forgot those. Put on a war movie!" Heatwave injected, pounding a fist against his hand.
"Preferably something with high-speed pursuits," Chase added.
"Guys, wait," Katilyn interrupted, "I have an idea." When Heatwave lowered her to the floor, she darted to her younger brother. After moving movies aside, she presented a case titled Romancing The Stone. "This is perfect!"
"What's it about?" Boulder asked as she placed the disc in the player.
"It's about a novelist who goes to save her sister from thieves with the help of a merchant," she explained vaguely, climbing back up to sit with Heatwave. "It's a lot, so just watch the movie," Katilyn replied, leaning against the warm red metal. She gasped, "Aww, my hot chocolate!" Blue eyes looked expectantly at the firebot, "Think you can get it for me, please?"
Heatwave gave her a sly look, "I can, but I'll have to lean forward."
"And?"
"Feel like getting crushed?" Heatwave asked, beginning to tilt forward. Katilyn started to squeal, wiggling out underneath his chassis. He stopped halfway, allowing her to escape and sit with Kade. Delicately, his giant digits grasped a hold of the pink mug before straightening up and handing it to his female partner.
"Thank you," she praised, sipping the warm contents. A light foam lingered on her upper lip before licking it away. Mischievously, she glanced over at her twin, who was busy on his phone, and quickly snatched one of his blankets. Ignoring Kade's protests, Katiyln snuggled up against Heatwave.
~~~~~~

The credits began to roll across the scene as the main characters rode toward the sunset in their boat. Dani, Blades, and Boulder were all sniffing, while Graham was confused about how the story ended.

"So, what do you think? Was it good?" Katilyn asked from her comfy position.

"It was alright," Kade responded absentmindedly, scrolling through his phone.

"What do you mean? You didn't even watch the movie." Heatwave countered. "The fight scenes were pretty good."

"It was so... beautiful," Blades said, rubbing his servo over his optics.

"I'm glad they still got to be together in the end," Dani added, dabbing away the stray tears with a tissue.

"Cheif, isn't using animal skins' as garments illegal if not cruel? Ms. Wilder should have contacted the police despite the thieves' threats." Chase asked the older man next to him. Charlie only chuckled at the blue bot before explaining more thoroughly.

"It seemed like it had everything everyone was looking for," Boulder noted, "Expect the fluffy animals."

"Their love was enough," Blades informed, handing Dani a small box of tissues.

Heatwave snorted before directing his attention to his two partners. Kade was still scrolling through his phone while Katilyn's head bobbed up and down, fighting to stay awake. "Aww, is someone sleepy?"

His comment caused the female to snap awake, glaring at him, "No, I'm resting my eyes!"

The red fire-bot made a sound of disbelief, prodding the human's side, "Yeah, and I'm human. You should go to bed," he paused, looking at the male twin in a similar state, "You both should."

"Heatwave proposes an excellent idea," Chase proclaimed, startling the firefighter twins. "It is our human counterparts' time to recharge. Allow me to escort you, Chief Burns."

Kade sighed, grabbing his phone and blanket before trudging after the officers. "Thanks, Heatwave," he grumbled.

The leader didn't say anything but held a smug expression. His expression dropped when Katilyn's heat melted away from his frame. "Need some help?"

"No, I'll do it myself," she stated, balancing her blanket around her shoulders and a popcorn bucket full of dishes in her hands. "See, I got it!" At that moment, almost proving herself wrong, the container started to wobble in her hands before the human restabilized it. "Well, goodnight!"

Heatwave shook his helm but smiled to himself. "Aww, is that a smile!" he heard Blades call from behind. He turned toward Blades with rage and embarrassment in his voice, "Blades!" The orange copter-bot cried with panic before dashing away with an angry firetruck trailing behind him.
