The beginning of fall spread outward into the woods. The orange, yellow and red leaves that rustled beneath my feet blended into the dusk's sky. Not knowing how far I must go, I stopped on my tracks, trying to navigate an appropriate destination for a more probable meeting spot, only to discover rows and rows of towering trees soaring into the sky.

I walked farther down the steep soiled ground, until I reached the outskirts of the boundless lake where the shallow waves of the water smothered the edges of rocks.

"You're here," his voice reached me, fused with relief, but yet sheer surprise.

I turned  to find Aiden dressed in a thin black coat which suited him well with perfection way beyond this world. "Why? You thought I wouldn't?"

His hands were tucked into his coat's pockets, and he shrugged his shoulders while marching towards me. "Yeah. I was on the edge of losing hope."

The ends of his short, messy hair danced softly along with the gentle breeze and the reflected azure streaks of the lake merged within his eyes. He gestured towards the rocks sitting silently on the sand, powerless against the shattering droplets of the fierce ripple of water. We sat ourselves on the smooth edges, the silence shared between us overpowering the songs of the forest birds.

Completely aware of the newly acceptance of the truth, I realized something; his absence had drained me of happiness all this time. I turned to him, my arms wrapping themselves around his waist and it was too soon that I felt his arms engulfing me into his warmth.

"I-I missed you...Aiden."

"I missed you more. You have no idea, Cat," he whispered, his voice muffled by my hair. I closed my eyes, embracing the moment, accepting that now is reality. This is my life, and having him by my side, consoled me even though I was completely aware that I was about to discover a whole lot of crap about my life.

He gently pulled me back and trained his eyes on mine. "You coming here...Does that mean you're ready?"

"I just reached here. Can't we like, hang around for a while? Just like the old times?"

He smiled warmly, and squeezed my shoulders, "Unfortunately, we don't have much time. But trust me. We are going to have plenty of bonding time once we get back your powers. Promise."

I exhaled with frustration, but what had to be done, must be done. Now. I nodded my head, encouragement surging through me. "Yes. I am ready."

He dug his hands into his pockets and retrieved a mini-sized bottle with a silver cap attached to the opening. "This is my blo-"

I raised my hand, signalling him to immediately stop. "Okay, I really prefer not to hear it. I am just going to drink it and get this over with."

I relieved the tiny cap and inhaled a load of the forest's air that held the essence of fresh trees. I raised the bottle, and before allowing my gag reflexes to take the best of me, gulped down Aiden's blood.

I couldn't help but cringe, even after squeezing my nose to get as less of the taste as I could. I dropped the bottle onto the soil behind the rocks, wiping my mouth. "I swear if nothing happens soon and you just made me drink your freakin' blood for fun, you're not going to be alive tomorrow, Aiden."

His soft but yet deep laugh echoed throughout the woods. "Oh, trust me. It's going to work."

But his smile dropped as fast as it had appeared, and I couldn't help but let the concern creep into me soul. "Is everything okay?"
