"Wisegirl?" He called as he walked through the door of the small apartment they shared in Manhattan.
"In here," he heard her call, as the sweet smell of cupcakes drew him into the cozy kitchen off of the front room. A birthday card from his mom sat on one side of the counter next to a post card from Hazel and Frank showing a colorful Mardi Gras scene. The kitchen was a perfect representation of the two of them. It had a sea green backsplash with grey cabinetry and out a window, growing on the fire escape was a potted Nightshade. The remodel had been a house warming present from all their friends, and the thought that in a few years his family might out grow the home made him sad, but it wasn't time to start thinking about that now.
He spotted her curly blonde hair first as he walked into the room. He smiled at the site of his beautiful wife with flour in her hair and a smudge of blue food dye on her cheek, she hummed along to a Billy Joel song.
"Good evening love," he murmured into her neck, his arms trapping her against the counter top from behind
"Happy Birthday Eve!" she said turning around in his arms to capture his lips in a kiss. He felt her smile against his lips as he once again pushed her against the counter, her hands rouse to his neck as he moved his mouth pressing kisses against her jaw, moving towards her neck. Suddenly a loud ding interrupted them, and he let out a small grown of disappointment as she pushed away from him.
"Sorry," she said with an apologetic shrug " I can't let your birthday cupcakes burn can I? Plus you look cute when you'rer disappointed, like a little puppy"
"I refuse to take that as anything but a compliment," He said, defiantly hopping up to sit on the edge of the counter.
Annabeth just smiled and placed a soft kiss on his cheek. These were the moments they both lived for, quiet, peaceful, filled with love, and a little humor.
"I love you," he said, planting a kiss on the ring he had placed on her finger just months before.
" I love you too Seaweed Brain"
