The Desmonds [Damianya]

-A New Friend-

On plates lay stacks of waffles topped with whipping cream and strawberries.

Haru was salivating at the sight of the food.

"oh good morning Haru! Come! Eat the food before it gets cold." Anya greeted her daughter.

She then heard a thump coming from beside her.
Levi had fell asleep and now the crumbs on his tray were all over his face.

"um, mama... Levi fell asleep.." she said trying to move the sleeping boy's head up.

Anya looked over her shoulder to find Haru poking at her brother's head.

She rushed over and started tending to Levi.

Haru started to chow down on her food.

"so gooood!" she said with her mouth stuffed.
"don't speak with your mouth full..." she corrected the young girl's manners.
"sh-orry"

A bowl of fruit was placed in front of her.

"don't just eat the omurice, eat some  fruit too..."
"yes papa..."

Everyone was finally sat down at the table.
Anya turned her attention to Haru.
"So, Haru, your birthday is coming up.. Do you want anything in particular?"

She put her finger on her chin.

"hmmm, I don't really know!"

It might not have been a big deal, but when she says she doesn't know she means "if you get me something I don't like, I will not be afraid to admit it". She can be quite harsh about it without knowing.
With a shocked expression, her father asked one more time.
"Are you sure you don't know?"
"yep" she sounded oblivious.

After breakfast, Damian had gone to work.
Haru was outside, Levi was sitting beside her on a picnic blanket.
She had forced him to play with her.
He was dawning a crown, with blue gemstones and a silver rihnstone border.
He had an empty plastic tea cup in front of him.
She turned to him with a water gun.
"well director Levi.... I believe your evil plot had come to an end! Agent Haru, the best spy in the world will bring you down!... Pow!"
She sprayed just a little water on him...
For a while he just sat there doing nothing, then Haru gave him a small nudge. He realized what he had to do and then adorablely fell to the side.
Haru looked at her mother's approval with sparkling eyes.

"what did you think! What did you think!" she asked her with uncontained excitement.
"that was great Haru!" she said enthusiasticly.
She was glad with the her mother's reaction and continued playing.
A while later, the sky started to dim. It was going to rain soon. Anya noticed and called her children over.
"it is about to rain! We have to go inside!" she called.
"Okie!"
The toys were cleared in seconds. She picked up Levi who was still lying down and staring at into the grey sky.
"let's go inside..."
Before Haru can take a stepshe heard a rustilling coming from the bush. She turned to investigate it.
She then saw a pair of emerald and blue eyes staring at her.
"hello? I am not going to hurt you...you can come out..."

A black cat stepped out of the bush slowly but surely.
She was about to reach out to it but there was a loud thunder which scared the cat away.
"Haru! Are you coming or not?" Anya called out one last time.
"um... Coming mama!"
As she backed away she didn't take her eyes of the bush.

It was starting to pour heavily. Roaring thunder can be heated in the distance.
The young girl was sitting on a couch near the glass door.
She still didn't take her eyes off the bush. She continued gazing into the garden until she saw the same pair of eyes she had seen earlier.
"huh! The mysterious black kitty!" she thought. "I should take it inside! It's really cold and wet out there...but mama will be upset... But the kitten..."
She finally settled on taking the kitten inside. She wore her raincoat and carried an extra one to smuggle the kitten in.
She grabbed some leftover chicken from the fridge and was ready to go outside. When the rain lightened up a bit, she went outside and hunted the black cat down.
She had finally found it and gave it the chicken she had sneaked from the kitchen.
"do you want to come inside? It's nice and warm!"
She placed the coat down and the kitten sat on it. Carefully she picked it up and snuck into the house.
She went past The living room thinking that she was safe but she then bumped into her mum.
"what are you up to and why were you outside?"
Levi stared at the coat she was holding.
"I-erm...forgot something outside.."
"sure..." she gave her a skeptical look.
"I know she is lieing..."
She was about to walk away went the cat suddenly meowed.
"was that a cat?"
"no! That was... Levi!"
"since when was he talkative?"
"nevermind that heh.. Bye!"

Wiht that she rushed to her room and put the kitten on the bed.
She uncovered the cat.

"um...hi...do you want some food?"

The cat meowed.

"I'll take that as a yes!"

She went back to the fridge to sneak some more chicken on a plate.

"are you hungry Haru? I can make you something..."
"erm..no thanks, I'll just have this instead.."

Anya was getting even more suspicious of Haru.

Back in her room the cat was inhaling the chicken.

"geez you must be hungry.."

Sje reached to pet it when she heard a familiar voice call out which made her jump.

"I knew it! You were hiding something from me!"
"mama... It's not what it looks like! It's a plush!"
"it's fine I am not mad, but the cat has to go... We have nothing suitable for a cat's health..."
"why though! It is so wet outside.. The thing that should worry you is the environment it is in.."
"don't worry I am not going to throw it out in the rain.. I'll give it to our neighbor they already have cats so they know how to take care of them.."

Anya reached out to the cat when she read its mind.
"no, no, no! Not again!"

"you useless cat! Why can't you do what you are asked!... Ugh, hey you go over the experiment one more time.."

"project Apple 2.0...subject 13...the black cat...Aim: give the cat danger sense.. Status: somewhat a failure..."

"modify the medicine... Then give it to the cat... Careful not to kill the cat because it has the blood necessary for the reaction..."

A few days later....

The cat was able to lift things with her mind.

"what was the status of the experiment again?" he said mockingly and proudly.

"Status: success...

Anya stopped in her tracks.
"just like Bond.." she thought.
"what is it mama?" Haru asked obliviously.
"I... Um changed my mind... we are keeping It"

Haru jumped in excitement.

"yaaay! We are keeping it!"

Anya went to the pet store with Levi, Haru, and the cat to get some stuff for the it.

When they got home they set up everything to make the cat comfortable.

A food and water bowl were given to her.

Anya wrote the adress inside the cat's collar incase it ever gets lost.

"welcome to your new home..um... What shall I name you?"

"think of an easy name it could understand..."

"hmmm"

She looked at the fur and it's two coloured eyes.

"I think I will call you, onyx, yes onyx"

"that is a lovely name"

When Damian got home, he saw a random cat sitting in front of the door.

"how did a cat get in?"

There was a note on the collar.

"please forgive us... The cat is too adorable to leave outside in the rain.. If you haven't caught on we adopted it.."

"they did what!"

He saw some sniggering faces behind the couch. They suddenly popped out of hiding.

"Surprise!"

"i cannot trust you home alone anymore..."

"well can we please keep it!" haru begged her father.

He lopped down to see Levi crawling over and hugging it.

"cute!" he thought putting his hand on his mouth

"fine we can keep it"

Haru was even happier than before

His eyes caught Anya's smile.

"cute...." he thought again.

"what's her name?"

"onyx!" Haru yelled.
