"I'm sorry"

Heriya rubbed the tears off her cheek as she laid her down on the basket, reluctantly. Heriya hummed a tranquil lullaby hoping to avoid making the small girl infront of her to fret anymore. Gracefully, Johnella fluttered her eyelashes for a couple beats before they shut, the spell finally being casted upon her. She slipped her hand off her and covered her sleeping body with black blankets knitted especially for her small frame. The embroidery included her name with teal stitches that included the famous Oceania Reef signature, allium flowers scattered around the edges, and a small tidal wave showing that the blanket was from the Tidal clan, Heriyas heritage.
"I hope someone could love you just like how you loved others," Heriya cooed, making Johnella slightly stir in her sleep.
"Hurry up sir Heriya, her grace is waiting for the job to be done," One of Heriya's students scoffed at her kind words, "you've always been such a softie, master"
Heriya flinched as she was called the same name as what her older brother used to call her. But instead of sweet laughter afterwards, this name was used with malice and disgust. Heriya lightly pushed the basket away from her, watching the little girl, used as a weapon, used as a tool, and never treated as a child, drift away from her. The older woman stood up and faced her protégé.
"You will see one day Kora," Heriya walked past Kora with a grimace, looking at the ground while doing so, "Number one on the Oceania royal guard book, think before you speak. You better follow that or I will cut your tongue off"
Heriya trutted towards the castle and away from the lily pond, leaving a shaken Kora.
