How to start an alter.

So you're a new pagan and don't know how to start an alter? I can help with that. The first thing you should know about starting and alter or working with a god is to figure out who you want to work with and why. If you want to work with Selene for example then ask yourself why? She's the goddess of the moon so what intentions do you have when it comes to the moon? Another thing you should do is make sure of the gods and goddesses that God likes. If you work with Aphrodite don't work with Persephone because they don't like each other. you're starting to get the whole alter thing! Way to go! Now let's get into setting up an alter. I'll be using Aphrodite for my example for the rest of this chapter!

An alter for Aphrodite, research things she likes, she was born in the ocean so add sand, sea shells water? To you're alter. She also likes pretty things as she's the goddes of love and beauty. You can find offerings for gods anywhere, if you do work with Aphrodite this is the chapter you are looking for. You could go to you're local goodwill  shop and go to the porcelain section and boom! Tons of things Aphrodite would love. If it's a statue or something pretty then she'd love it! Another thing to do when starting an alter is Remembering to pray. I have a prayer mat that I let NOTHING touch. I do that out of a sign or respect.  If it's dirty is gets cleaned asap,and I pray on it so I try to not stand on it as I find that a sign as disrespect so I only kneel on my mat.
