"What are those on your feet?" Their best friend Tom inquired the moment he spotted them. The look on his face could only be described as vague horror.

"Her shoes got eaten by werewolves," Jacky started sarcastically, tipping her head back to bask in the rare sunlight.

"Did you not see the full moon last night?" Maddy finished wiggling her brows.

He shot them both a scolding look that could only mean one thing—"Don't you start, I've already heard this from—."

"Hey Shannon," Jacky cut Tom off as said girl came around the corner, waving awkwardly at the girl who was once her greatest friend.

Shannon thankfully ignored her in favour of grinning at Maddy, "Did you hear last night on the moors? Howling."i

Jack went suddenly rigid, lips pursing when she suddenly remembered the Wolfblood that she smelt during her walk home the night before.

"Here, here. Look what I found on Dreamers Lane this morning," she pulled a picture up on her phone and held it out excitedly for them to look. It was a paw print.

"I'm going to compare it to paw print photos of different dogs," she explained as Maddy took the phone and angled it for her twin to get a better look.

Tom blinked in disbelief, "What? Of every type of dog?"

"Dreamers Lane you said?" Jacky inquired curiously.

Shannon took her phone back, "This is proof, Tom," she said, holding her phone up triumphantly. "Proof there is something weird up there on the moors."

"Like you Shannon," one of the Kay's quipped as the first bell rang.

Shannon's face dropped and pushed past Jacky who reached for hand only for the girl to snatch it away "Shan—."

"Don't need you making fun of me either, Jack."

Tom, Maddy and Jacky all watched her storm off with varying levels of pity and frustration.

"Why am I always the one given shite for their words?" Jacky grumped and Tom sighed, throwing a comforting arm over her shoulder and pulling her into his side.

"Who knows what's going on in that whacky head of hers," he squeezed her, "Don't worry about it, she'll get over it eventually, C'mon let's get to class, alright?"
