Annihilation Afterstory

(RECAP!) Last Chapter, Pewter and Aiba informed Mizuki Kuranushi of her mother's death. The three of them went to Brahman to find Mizuki Okiura and tell her that Date had been arrested. They all then went to an old chemical plant in the Kabasaki District in search of the prototype psync machine, in hopes of finding evidence against Saito. They ran into #89, who the two Mizukis learn is Rohan Kumakura. A fight breaks out, resulting in Mizuki Okiura getting shot in the leg. Mizuki Kuranushi took her to central hospital, and now Pewter is alone with Rohan.

Rohan looks up at Pewter, not even bothering to worry about the wound in his leg. Pewter still held Evolver to his head. Luckily, along with Mizuki and Bibi, he'd already conveniently taken out all the armed men. He and Rohan are the only conscious people in the chemical plant. Pewter walks behind Rohan and puts one foot onto Rohan's back, still holding up Evolver, to prevent him from escaping. Just as Pewter was about to pull out his phone to call HQ again, Rohan distracted him.

"You were Renju's lover, right?" Pewter glances up at him. Rohan continues talking without an answer. "You must know about what he did, then. Saito was complaining about having nightmares while in Renju's body. Nightmares about burying bodies, about watching those innocent people gettin' killed. Nightmares about Manaka." Pewter could feel himself getting angry again. He knew Rohan was trying to provoke him. He quickly pulled out his phone. Before he could dial for HQ, though, Rohan talked again. "Y'know, he didn't even try to stop me or anyone else from killin' them. He may as well be just as evil as me. Imagine, he couldn't even prevent his own wife from abusin' his daughter. Before you ask how I know that, Saito told me all about it once he got his memory back."

It took all of Pewter's strength not to pay attention. He just has to press the call button...

"No matter what excuse could be made about him, Renju was a selfish, and evil man. He half-assed every attempt he made at keeping a relationship, whether platonic or romantic. He deserved to have those nightmares. He deserved to forever suffer through the guilt he carried. Saito was doing him a favor when he killed him. He even had the kindness to keep Renju seda-"

Before Rohan could finish, Pewter snapped.

He kicked him in the head, not stopping when Rohan was knocked out. "Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up! You can't say anything about him being evil! You traumatized him! It's your fault, your fault, your fault!"

He then switched to shooting Rohan in the head. Gunshots rang out through the abandoned warehouse. Pewter let out his pent-up anger from the past week. He didn't stop until he felt "Hayato's" blood splatter onto him, which pulled him back into reality. He stepped back and looked at the body in front of him. He just killed a man, yet he couldn't find it in himself to feel remorse. That was the body of his boss's best friend and coworker. Though, all he could say was good riddance to the current host. After everything he'd done to so many innocent people, Pewter felt he 100% deserved death.

Pewter then finally called HQ. "I deeply apologize for bothering you once again, though this is a very serious matter." He explained the fight, and that he was there to find evidence against "Kaname Date". "Ah, I should also inform you, #89... he attacked me along with someone who's already heading to Central Hospital at this moment. I completely panicked and shot him... I... believe I killed him." He did his best to sound nervous, after all he is admitting to a murder. If he plays the self-defense card, he can hopefully get out of this situation with little to no repercussions.

Kagami, along with a few other officers, showed up a few minutes later. Pewter managed to get the fingerprints he needed within that time, and the officers let him go. Kagami followed him, as Pewter needed him to see the evidence he'd collected from the prototype. They quickly got into Pewter's car- wait, did Bibi take Mizuki to the hospital on foot? Well, that sounds like something Boss's daughter would do. And now Pewter has blood all over his car. Great. They both drove back to ABIS, where Pewter quickly looked for a match to the fingerprints. Not-so-surprisingly, "Date's" fingerprints were a perfect match.
