Born in July, Daisy Peters was a sunshine baby. Her brother, a year older than her, always said she was super smiley and happy as a child. Of course, she was the apple of her brother's eye. She always saw him as a protector of some sort because in all honesty, their parents spent so much time fighting that their children were left to themselves. That's how their obsession with music came along.
Reginald Peters, also known as Reggie to everyone besides their parents, asked for a guitar one Christmas. Surprisingly, he received the gift. For a little bit, their parents, Cindy and Richard, paid for lessons, same with Daisy for piano. Long after that stopped, the siblings continued to learn. Reggie even taught Daisy how to play his guitar. They wrote songs and played them with each other, mostly to drown out the arguments.
At age 14, Reggie met three boys: Alexander "Alex" Mercer, Lukas "Luke" Patterson, and Robert "Bobby" Shaw. These three boys also loved music. At first, Reggie started hanging out with the three boys more, which was fine, she just didn't have any other friends. Her older brother was basically the only person she hung around with. Sad, but true.
When the three boys met Daisy, they treated her like how they did Reggie, apart of a family. Alex and Bobby treated her like a little sister, pushing her around and being there for her.
Now, Luke was different. She always thought the Patterson boy was really cute and she always acted shy around him. Luke was effortlessly clueless to the whole thing.
Eventually, Reggie noticed how she acted and put a strict "no dating my friends" rule down. Secretly, he thought they might be a little cute. So, Daisy pushed those feelings down for the sake of her brother.
When they started the band a year later, Reggie traded his six string acoustic guitar for a four string bass guitar. He gave the six string to Daisy who often sat in and listened to them practice. Her keyboard (given to her by her mother) sat in Bobby's garage that they used as their studio. They even asked her to play with them sometimes, but she mostly refused. Being on a stage, though their gigs were small, scared her more than anything.
Their band, Sunset Curve, took off after months. They were set to play the Orpheum in 1995. Daisy was so proud of them and they—Luke—had tried to convince her to perform with them. She had agreed to do soundcheck with them, to see if she would be okay with it.
It was supposed to be the most exciting night of their lives. They were supposed to make history. Instead, things took a turn before they could even step on to the stage.
