Chapter 28

Emma didn't stop pushing me until we were quite far from the bridal shop. She hadn't said a word from when she dragged me out.

"Aren't you going to tell me what you've seen in the shop? Why have you escaped liked that?" I asked.

"Listen, I just saw someone who I didn't want to meet." She said avoiding my gaze.

"And who's that?"

"Can't we just not talk about it?" She asked as we kept walking.

I sighed. "Emma we're friends. We should tell everything to each other? Please tell what happened in that shop to make you go away like that?"

Emma looked at me, undecided if to tell me or not. She kept chewing her lips and finally she looked down.

"Em.. it's just that I saw..em..Kevin's ex.." She finally blurted. Her eyes fixed to the floor, she couldn't even look at me. She was lying.

"Kevin's Ex? And who is she? You never mentioned an ex before."

" Everyone has an ex Gab." She mumbled.

"Not me." I retorted. "Emma, tell me the truth."

"I am really." She insisted. I blew out exasperatedly. Emma was lying, and that meant that whoever she saw had something to do with me. Jess? Had she seen Jess?

"Emma, have you seen Jess by any chance?" I asked. If Emma's face was pale before now it was white as snow.

"What?.. Gab- No really."

"I want to go back to the shop. I need to see what you saw." I said stubbornly.

"But why? Gabby please let's just forget this and go to eat. It was only Kevin's Ex after all. Why do want to see her?"

I ignored her, I didn't want to hear her lies. I started to walk back towards the bridal shop. Emma screamed after me to stop but I didn't. She ran after me and grabbed my shoulder trying vainly to stop me but I kept going. If she was trying to stop me so desperately that meant I was right. It concerned me.

"Please Gabby, stop!"

"Leave me alone Emma! There must be a reason why you're lying to me. You never do." I said stopping for a moment to look at her.

"Oh Gab."

"So are you telling me whom you have seen or do I have to find out on my own?" I asked giving her a last chance to speak up.

She breathed in and as she was going to spill the beans, I saw the expression on her face change again. I turned around to look at the shop and I almost had a heart attack. No. My heart squeezed as I saw Jess and Lara at the entrance of the shop. No. No this wasn't happening? Why was he there? And with Lara? He had lied to me. He was suppose to be at the party at this time. Tears started flowing down my cheek.
