There was a second knock at the door.
"Crown Prince? Are you in there?" asked the voice.
Wilhelm and Simon looked at each other and quickly got up from the bed. They frantically searched around the room for their clothes to put back on.
"Shit Wille!" whispered Simon as he struggled to pull his pants on.
"Haha it's okay Simon," responded Wilhelm as he let out a chuckle.
The two finished getting their shirts on and Wilhelm headed towards the door to check who was knocking.
As Wilhelm opened the door slightly so as to not reveal what was happening inside the room, he saw that Jan Olof was the one knocking.
"Crown Prince, uh, I came to talk about what we've decided to do can you please come to the office?" he asked apprehensively trying to get a glimpse of what was being hidden from him inside the room.
"Okay, we will be down soon," responded Wilhelm not being able to look Jan Olof in the eyes.
"Oh, uh, we..." whispered Jon Olof under his breath as his face scrunched up in disappointment.
An awkward moment passes and Jon Olof turns around and walks away toward the office. Wilhelm closes the door and stares at Simon who was sitting on the bed with a worried expression on his face.
"Who was it?" asked Simon getting up and moving closer to Wilhelm.
"Jon Olof, they said they have a plan they want to discuss with us," said Wilhelm as he took Simon into his arms.
The two stood there and embraced as they worried about what was to come. The future of the monarch rested on Wilhelm's shoulders and the thought of other people deciding his fate did not sit well with him.
What was the council planning to do with them? How come he couldn't choose what to do himself? Why did it seem like when he was finally happy, the world decided to end it?
Wilhelm began to feel a bit uneasy. Suddenly his shirt felt like it was choking him. His heart started to palpitate and his breathing became uneasy. His stomach felt as if it was urging him to throw up. The feeling that something was going to go wrong only grew with every passing moment.
Wilhelm was spiraling thinking about all the possible scenarios.
Simon moved closer to Wilhelm and put both his hands on Wilhelm's face to try and calm him down, "Wille, it will be okay, I'm here for you."
Simon began to rub Wilhelm's face with his thumbs and leaned in for a small peck on the mouth. Wilhelm still feeling anxious looked Simon deep in the eyes in an attempt to calm down. He noticed his hands had grown increasingly sweaty and started to wipe them on his jeans.
"Okay, I'm going to be okay Simon, I think we should head back downstairs," said Wilhelm as he let out a deep breath.
Simon nodded in agreement and the two left the room heading toward the office they were in earlier.
"This is actually such a gorgeous place, I've never seen anything like it," mentioned Simon as they reached the stairs.
Wilhelm stayed quiet for a moment, thinking of what to say in reply. This castle makes him feel trapped and powerless.
"These hallways remind me of so much pain. I hate being here. I enjoyed Hillerska so much and now I feel like it's all gone," responded Wilhelm as they turned the corner mere feet away from the office.
Simon felt sad hearing Wilhelm speak like this. He wants nothing more than for Wilhelm to be happy and at this moment it seemed like he was being tortured by everyone around him.
"Wille, I wish there was something I could do..," said Simon with a worried look on his face.
Wilhelm did not respond but instead gave a small smile back as they reached the office once again. As the two tightened their hands together they walked in.
The room this time was mostly empty with only Queen Kristina and Jan Olof sitting together on one side. As soon as the boys walked in they stopped their conversation and looked up at them.
The two boys moved closer to sit down at the table. Wilhelm walked a bit faster than Simon and pulled out a chair for Simon to sit in. Simon seeing this let out a small giggle and sat down on the chair. Wilhelm then pulled out the seat right next to Simon and proceeded to sit down as well.
There was a brief moment of silence. The room lingered in a state of quietness as if waiting for something big to happen.
Queen Kristina finally spoke up, "Wilhelm. Simon."
"I want you boys to listen to every single word I say before you respond.
Tomorrow, we will have to put out an official statement about the events that occurred during the speech. We will no longer deny that it was you in the video.
Instead, we will have you and Simon go on national television and do an interview to explain the situation to try and calm the public and try to restore some faith in the monarchy.
Depending on how the world responds to this news will decide what we do next. If they are open to the idea then we will move forward. If they do not approve, then Wilhelm you will have to give up the crown and we will move forward with August as your backup."
Silence.
The room grew quiet again waiting for something to be said.
As Wilhelm sat in his chair biting his fingernails deep in thought, Simon looked over at him.
Suddenly, Wilhelm got up from his chair and walked out of the room leaving Simon behind.
Simon sat awkwardly and was unsure of what to do next.
"I told you he wasn't going to take this easy," whispered Queen Kristina to Jan Olof.
"My son is too temperamental, he doesn't understand the sacrifices that come with being the Crown Prince."
As Queen Kristina finished her sentence Wilhelm walked back into the room his face looking as angry and red as ever.
"Here is what's going to happen," began Wilhelm holding his ground.
