She watches them from afar, joining in the laughter of her group poking fun at the couple. They were all close, so joking about the new pair was something they could do and it would be brushed off like dust. But as she watched them her heart ached. They walked closely hand in hand swaying to the beat of the music pouring out of the headphones they were sharing. Oh, how she longed to be her, the girl in his arms, the girl he told sweet nothings to, the girl who's hand she could hold or cuddle into his arms whenever she wanted. Yet she couldn't. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever. They were just friends and she knew that, oh, how she knew that too well.
So she watched from afar, making jokes with her group, of the new couple, walking hand in hand to the beat of the music.
