After relaying the information Aelia had gotten from John, she and her friends decided that tonight was their shot to invade John's mansion. He had revealed that he would be out attending some party after they were rudely interrupted by the mysterious man.

The East Cascades community is a good thirty minute drive from the cafe and they will have to wait until well after dark to make their move. This means that Aelia will probably not be home by ten like she told Ian and Jeffrey. Part of her feels bad for disobeying them on her very first night, but another part of her feels like she will upset them sooner or later.

She is not the picture perfect child. She does not follow rules, she breaks them. They will probably kick her out the second she turns eighteen anyways.

They decide to stake out John's estate until they see him leave for the party. Luckily, Jose has his own car to drive them. The four of them climb into his small chevy malibu and they drive the long way to the nicest community in Kentucky.

When John said he owned an estate, he was being generous. They pull up to a full blown mansion and every mouth in the car gapes at the large building. The summer sun begins to gently set behind the structure, highlighting the large white pillars that hold up the front porch.

The roof is made of red clay curved bricks that tower up to several stiff peaks. The house must be over five thousand square feet as it sits on a seven-acre plot. Next to the house is another giant structure with six garage doors on the front end.

"I bet he has a lambo in there." Jose breathes out, his eyes on the same garage as he gapes.

"This dude is seriously loaded." Maya inquires.

Aelia notices a very tall black fence surrounding the property and frowns. How are they going to get in without a gate code?

They wait for two hours in the car. Jose parked down the road a bit and turned the headlights off so that we will hopefully blend in with the community. Unfortunately for them, the small car still stands out because of the year model.

While his car is probably valued at about ten thousand dollars, every other car parked in the brick driveways in the houses around them are worth tens of thousands more.

Finally a brand new 2018 black Rolls-Royce pulls out of the driveway. It makes a turn towards them and the bright headlights are almost blinding until it drives past.

Jose waits a few moments before he and the others exit the car and head for the gate. They reach the bars and Jose wraps his fingers around them as if he is in a jail cell again.

Maya follows his movements and attempts to squeeze through them. She manages to get her head in, but gets caught when the side of her tries to go.

Aelia suddenly feels a wave of nerves run through her body, knowing what is going to come next.

"Aelia, you're the smallest. You have to do this." Hannah commands, pointing at the house.

"Yeah, Al, don't chicken out now." Jose jumps in.

Aelia takes a shaky breath as she stares at the bars. If she goes alone it will be a lot more nerve racking.

"Just find a jewelry box. Get in and get out, you got this." Maya puts her hand on Aelia's shoulder and gives her a look of encouragement.

Aelia presses her eyes closed for a moment and finally decides she cannot bail on her friends. She squeezes through the bars with only a little struggle. She gets to the other side and her friends all cheer quietly.

"I know you won't let us down." Hannah squeezes her hand before letting it go.

Now she is all alone.
