I woke up to the sound of a bang coming from downstairs, I tried to move but I quickly remembered I was being held by Simon. I turned around to face him gently shaking him hoping he would wake up, "Simon wake up" I whispered yet nothing happened. I then tried to escape his warm grasp around my waist. I really wish I didn't have too. As I was moving his hand I heard him grunt in annoyance. I slightly smiled but was snapped out of thought by another loud bang from downstairs. I wasted no time in escaping his grasp this time, I quickly shook him one more time before I headed down there, "Simon please, wake up" I whispered but gave up after no response. I kneeled on the floor and grabbed a gun from my bag under the bed and headed downstairs. Once I reached the bottom I noticed the door was open, snow had blown in and all over the entrance floor, it felt like a freezer in there. I quickly closed the door, but before I did I noticed boot tracks in the snow and looked underneath the welcome mat for the key, it looked as if someone had entered then ran out,the lock in the door seemed to be intact meaning this person had a key. Clearly they didn't shut the door well enough considering it flew open.I heard the door slam open ten minutes ago then open again like three minutes ago maybe if I had got up faster I could have caught them. I'm so confused. Who did this?Everything is still where it was, the keys are where we left them, the case info files are still all there. Deep in thought I felt a hand touch my shoulder, then without thought I grabbed the hand twisting it shoving the person to the ground and aiming my gun to the person's face, and to my surprise and horror it was just Simon. He laid there groaning in pain, I immediately let go apologizing. "Oh my god, I'm so so sorry someone broke in so I just assumed you were the intruder" "it's fine really, fuck you're stronger than you look" I quickly grabbed his hand helping him stand back up, "wait!...did you say someone broke in? Why didn't you wake me up? When did this happen?" He asked like a worried parent, rubbing the back of his head clearly still in pain from the fall. "I did try, you wouldn't budge I guess you were just to busy using me as your own personal teddy bear to care, and it happened like twenty minutes ago now, I looked around every where everything is still in place nothing was stolen." "It's not my fault you're just so damn comfortable, and you could've tried harder I'm not a heavy sleeper" he huffed. My cheeks flushed red at his comment. So he did know what he was doing cuddling onto me last night!. Fuck I can't handle this shit right now. I turned my gaze away from the 6'4 man looming over me, clearly flustered. "It's really strange, why would someone break in, steal nothing then leave?" He asked in hopes to break the tension. "I have no clue, not to mention the door is in perfect condition whoever broke in had a key and the key underneath the mat is still there, I was thinking maybe it was Ashley but I don't think she would do that without telling us first or something" "didn't price say the cabin was surrounded by cameras, do you think we have access to those downstairs?" yeah that's right, I forgot all about that thank god he remembered. "I'm not sure I haven't been downstairs yet, worth a shot though" I tucked my gun into the back of my pants as we headed down, Simon opened the door and a wave of frozen air hit us as we walked down sending chills throughout my body. Straight ahead of the door was a washer and dryer machine and next to the dryer on the left side of the room was a giant pile of wood, "hey look" I quickly turned my head to where Simon was and saw he was standing in a room full of camera monitors, six cameras were pointed all around the cabin in an top view. One camera was directed to the front door, I mentally cheered at the thought of finally being able to see who the intruder was. "Looks like the cameras are just a live feed, there is no way we can rewind
I'm afraid" he sighed in defeat as did I. Of course this would happen, "maybe we should call price, I'm sure he has people watching us" I asked looking at the emotionless ghost in front of me. "Yeah good idea, though I don't have his number" I once again groaned in annoyance, "hey don't worry, I'm sure if it was important he would call us, maybe it was just Ashley, either way there is nothing we can do about the past, now we know this is here we can take turns watching the cameras" he spoke softer than I've heard him speak, he then started walking back upstairs and I followed behind him. He's right no point in worrying about it now. Once we made it upstairs we walked into kitchen, I sat down at the counter on a barstool. "Would you like some coffee?" He asked, "yes please" I smiled looking at the case files in front of me, "I suppose we should get reading" all I got was a grunt in response. Taking that as a yes I grabbed the files in hand, "price wasn't joking when he said they barely had anything anymore" I sighed as I started reading the information out loud. Five minutes into the reading Simon had gave me my long awaited coffee. It took us about a good hour or so to read everything. "Okay, so basically silencer was recruited to 141 by Laswells recommendation, about a week into the job he noticed we had been getting a lot of calls by two teams across the US, it's still unknown who the teams were, the calls were about a cult of terrorists in Colorado, they were threatening to release a world threatening disease across Colorado and wished for more members to join their revolution and if the requirements were met they wouldn't do a thing, the disease is still unknown I'm guessing they took the piece of information, soon after a week of looking into the cult Silencer confronted Price and Laswell with the information and and was approved for an investigation in Durango about four hours away from the cults suspected location, he spent about three months watching and learning until he got to close and was murdered along with six other men, his last known lead was a suspicious looking group of people staying in a fire watch tower about an hour out of Durango" after I was done re-caping the situation Simon got up and grabbed the now cold and empty coffee cups and placing them into the sink. "Well it's not much to go on but tomorrow morning, I'd say about five AM we should leave to find that fire watch tower and see if we can find anything out" I nodded in agreement slightly annoyed at the thought of having to wake up early."So it's only 2:03pm right now, what do you want to do?" I asked getting up. "I'm not sure, I was just thinking of taking a quick shower and going down to the cameras then starting watch, would you care to join me?" My face immediately flushed red, my heart racing at his invite. He quickly took notice to my shy state and immediately realized what he said slightly blushing himself, though lucky for him he was wearing a mask. "OH-no I meant you could join me downstairs, not in the shower, not yet anyway" he chuckled,my cheeks only grew redder at the sound of his laugh and comment. Is he joking? God this man makes me so weak, I don't even know him, yet I'm so head over heels it's not funny. I know he doesn't feel the same I mean look at me plus it would be extremely unprofessional but a girl could dream. "I'll uh be downstairs" I quickly left the room before he said anything else and I exploded of embarrassment. Once I arrived downstairs I sat down in the camera room, about five minutes in my eyes grew heavy and before I knew it I was out.
Twenty minutes later...
I was woken up by the feeling of a hand gently pushing my shoulder, I looked up and saw Simon kneeling in front of me, he was now wearing a tight black long sleeved shirt and some tan cargo pants. His balaclava was now just a ski mask with his famous skull face painted on it
and his eye makeup was now gone, I never noticed how blue his eyes were until now. "So much for watching the cameras" I smiled rubbing my eyes, "tell me about it, I would've let you sleep longer but I couldn't stand your annoying snores" "I do NOT snore!" I huffed, he just smiled and stood up sitting on another chair next to me. "Did I miss anything?!" I asked "I have no idea I just got here" I smiled turning my head to the cameras. We sat in silence for a good twenty minutes, but a comfortable silence. "So listen, I'm sorry about last night" I turned my head to look at Simon, "what do you mean? Sorry for what?" I asked, was he apologizing for cuddling me?. "For uh you know just grabbing you like that, it was completely unprofessional and I'm sorry" he sounded upset. "Hey, it's alright it was cold and it was totally alright trust me I didn't mind, it felt really nice" I smiled at him but quickly looked away realizing what I just confessed. "So, you wouldn't mind if I did it again?" My face was brighter than ever my heart racing. "N-no" was all I could say I could feel him inching closer until I noticed something on the cameras"LOOK! There on the third camera to the right, behind that tree I think there is a person standing there" before I could say anything else he got up and looked at me "do you have your gun still?" "Yeah, here" I quickly handed it to him and watched as he started to make his was out. "Simon, wait" I said he stopped and I ran up to him, "I'm coming with you" he just nodded his head in agreement as we made our way outside to face the unknown intruder.
