Author's Note: As I said earlier, if you want to avoid any spoilers, I recommend that you watch Steven Universe-Ocean Gem.
"They won't let us leave, Steven." I say. "Come with me, let's leave this planet together."
He steps back, uncertainty crossing his face. "B-but this is my home."
I frown. "I see."
Suddenly Garnet punches my water hand. The force of the blow pushes me backwards a few feet. I can't take this any longer. Who knows what may happen if they manage to contain me again.
"Goodbye Steven." I wade out into the water until it reaches my hips, and then send a huge wave to crash against the shore.
"Lapis wai—!" But my water crashes down upon them and I walk further into the blue depths of the ocean.
This is his home, I can understand why he wants to stay. It's unfortunate that he doesn't yet realize how cruel the Crystal Gems are towards their own kin.
They told me I was dangerous, I took it as a compliment.
Suddenly a sharp pain Sears through my toe. I curse, grabbing my foot. My big toe is now throbbing. All around me on the ocean floor lie rocks scattered everywhere. I curse again, deciding to summon a strong current to push me towards my unknown destination instead.
I do not know how much time had passed. It is pretty hard to tell under the ocean.
I wave at a passing school of fish and they swirl around me as I am whisked along by the current.
Finally, I glide to a stop somewhere on the ocean floor. If I had to guess I'd say the star has revolved twice around the planet since I left Beach City.
It's so peaceful...and dark. My hair floats listlessly around my face.
Unsure what to do next, I plop myself down to sit on the floor. I wish Peri was here. She could sympathize with me and I'd actually have someone to talk to. Steven was nice, but he's too naive. He just doesn't understand gem history.
I have to make it home somehow, I need to return to the Home World so that I can tell the other gems what happened.
I reach back to feel my gem. There is a deep crack running down the center. I sob, what now?
I use the current to propel myself to the surface. The force shoots me several feet above the water and I fall back down flailing.
Smooth, Lapis. Smooth.
I spin in a 360 to find there is no land in sight.
I wonder...
Could I possibly use the entire ocean to stretch me all the way home? It takes up more than half of the Earth's crust, so I don't see why not.
It's a slow process, but I will the water to collect in an upward spiral, sucking in all ocean life during the process.
After what feels like a millennium later, I stand on top of a huge cylinder of ocean water. I can feel myself losing strength, but it's still not high enough. I've barely reached the atmosphere. I tap into my remaining energy and will the ocean water to rise.
Suddenly a noise at the base of my tower alerts me.
Steven.
