Guilt and regret root from the same dark corner inside of a human. But if it took punishment to get that out of you is it really regret?

More self pity.

THREE.

I can't let her leave. If she leaves and she remembers what happened, I'm done for. My job, my comfortable lifestyle, my family, everything. No one will want to be around an convict.

I just have to keep her around for long enough for me to figure out what to do, and long enough to make sure she doesn't remember what happened.

"Okay. Here's what we're gonna do." I smiled, standing up, joining her by the window she was peering out of. "You, stay with me."

I repeated it slowly, pointing at her and then at me.

She smiled.

"But you have to go home now. I have work to do."

...

"Hello everyone, we're greeting you here at FM 6.7 with pop hit ANTIFRAGILE by LE SSERAFIM, playing right now at 12:00 pm. We'll be right back after this song."

Damn. Twelve.

I was scared to even enter my house cause I already knew it was going to crush the small remnant of happiness I had in me. I hadn't had much time to take care of pantry girl since I had to drop her off back at home on my lunch break and headed back to the office immediately.

I closed my eyes as the door creaked open and to my surprise it was still in one piece, in exception to the vase from before obviously.

Panic rose up from inside me. She left.

I almost turned the house upside down looking for her, before accepting my fate and going to my room to sleep.

To my surprise the TV was on and I found her laying in my bed watching a kids cartoon, eyes plastered on the screen.

"You can't remember how to talk but you can remember how to turn a TV on?"

She pointed at the TV. There were a variety of woodland animals on screen flocking over a princess. Both of her hands went to her chest, and she kept pointing at the screen.

"What? Snow White?" No audible reply, just more pointing. "Don't get your hopes up you're not pretty enough to be a princess."

Although it was a joke, it felt sort of mean, especially since she couldn't understand what I was saying. Felt more like laughing at her than with her.

Wait.

"Hey!" I pointed down at her body. "You're wearing my clothes?!"

She also looked down, acting surprised. Slowly, she nodded, and started to unbutton the dress shirt.
