Dear Father,
My nightmares continue, although they are less frequent. My tutoring with Uncle Thor continues even though most people are distant and fearful when I attend meetings with him. No one has spoken to me besides Grandmother, Grandfather and Uncle Thor, that it surprised me when a new maid I was assigned asked me how my day was going. Her name is Lena and she is the sweetest thing. Over the past two weeks we have become the closest of friends. We both love to read which is amazing as I have finally found someone with the same passion for it as me. Some nights when my nightmares are particularly bad, we'll sit on my bed and talk about happier times, you see she hasn't had it easy either. Her father died at a battle on the outskirts of the realm with some dark elves, bf she barely remembers her mother as she died while Lena was only at two years of age. Lena lived on the streets for 6 weeks until Grandmother took her in as a maid. She has helped me greatly, her friendship has helped me control my power and the fear I hold against it, and for that I am forever grateful. The other day we were walking through the castle halls when one of Grandfather's general's son started to make snide comment about me being a traitor's daughter. Lena and I ignored those comments hope he would just get bored, but as we continued our walk he started to make inappropriate comments, I was content in just walking away. But Lena wanted no part of it. She turned around and yelled at him for speaking to a princess that way. His response only angered her further as he said, "No princess of mine is a freak or the daughter of a traitor." I saw her face darken and I knew nothing good was to come of this, as I know how protective she is. I remember trying to persuade her to just walk away but I would have never expected what happened next. She slapped him, and in that moment she looked extremely triumphant. I grabbed her arm and we ran to my room nearly collapsing with laughter. The best part was at dinner he had to explain what happened to his father when he question the red hand print. Uncle Thor laughed so hard when he heard the story he started to choke on his wine. Once he regained his composure he called Lena into the dinning hall. At first I thought he was going to punish her but he called for an extra chair and sat her next to me claiming that anyone who protects his niece is family to him and that for the rest of her days as my maid she will eat with us. That night Lena and I sat on my bed into the late hours of the night laughing about the day's events. She has become like a sister to me and she supports me when I need someone the most. Soon I will have to go and rule over Hel, and I hope that Lena will agree to come with me as it would be nice to have someone familiar with me in a new realm. I wish you would return so that when your trail and punishment is over you can come to Hel, as I know you would always know what to do. I miss you and can not wait for you to return to Asgard.
Love,
Hela
