[ So, I've decided from here on out to write this book in 2nd person (using "you") instead of third as that POV is most popular when it comes to reader inserts. I also hope to add some more dialogue into this chapter!
With that said and done, sit back, relax, grab some snacks, and enjoy your stay! ✨]

Warm light poured from squared windows and into your room. It gave a nice, cozy feel to the dull space. You laid tucked into your thin blanket with your head sunken into a pillow that's stuffing had long since migrated to the sides of their confines. It was bound to give you a crick in the neck when you awoke.
The beams of heat met your face as the sun began to rise. You stirred with your eyes clenched as you scoot out of the heat, waddling to your side away. An attempt at falling back sleep was made but you'd already been disturbed. And with that the piece of cloth draped around you was thrown onto the other side of the bed.
You groggily hop out of bed, rub the sleep out of your eyes and yawn a yawn you could have swore came from the depths of hell, then with a smack of your lips, trudge down the hall and into the living room.
"What— what the hell is that smell...?" You said immediately upon entering the living room.
It wasn't at all an unpleasant scent. It was of the classic yet unfamiliar American breakfast. You did hope as a child to see a face made of sunny-side up eggs and a piece of bacon smiling up to you. Adults were busy people, though, and well, your parents weren't an exception. They rarely ever did have time for you.
You suddenly got cold feet. Maybe the kitchen wasn't a good idea after all. In fact, the authorities sounded like an absolute delight right about now.
You take a step back, and then another, making your way round the corner you'd recently turned until a sharp pain shot through your foot
"FFFFF—!"
A strained cry left your lips as you scrambled to cradle your stubbed toe. Tears stung your eyes and you bit the inside of your cheek in ineffective distraction. You only realized the sizzling and soft clanks and sparks had came to a halt when you notice a man standing at the entrance of the kitchen.
You let out a raspy shout, and with the adrenaline of fear, push yourself some distance away from him. He seemed worried, more than he had been when first hearing the pained noise you'd made earlier. His appearances were odd too! You had expected a thug, but no! Not at all! It was a clown. A clown wearing more blue than you'd ever wanted to see in your life. Hell, even his hair was blue!
"Sunshine, are...you okay?"
He advanced. Though slow and wel-intentioned, you weren't very keen on the stranger drawing closer. You sprung to your feet and swiped the closest object you could for self defense.
        Scissors. Nice.
You swung them back and forth in front of you as warning.
"HEY—!" You jab the scissors at him. "Hey man! Back it up..!"
He lifted his hands up beside his head as an awkward smile adorned his face. He eyed the weapon you brandished warily.
"Woah, I'm not gonna hurt you! I'm not so sure about you though..." He chuckled to himself, averting his gaze. You stood on guard.
He looked a little unsure now. Somewhat irritated as well. "Sunspot, I just came to check if you were okay..."
What the hell was with all these damn pet names?
"Who are you, and...WHY are you In my house (well, apartment, but that wasn't important)?" You, now posing as the dominant one in the situation, took a few unsteady steps forward and felt out a couple of scissor-wielding swipes.
He gives you a grin and seems to perk up. Walking into the kitchen, he grabs a plate, bringing it to your dining table. You watched skeptically, fearing that he'd try some funny crap. But he didn't. Instead, he pulled out a seat and stood behind it.
You stifled, shook. Robbers weren't gentlemen that made breakfast and pulled out chairs for you. What was this tomfoolery?
He was quick to pick up your resent and reluctancy, whatever else you had going on, too, and put a gentle smile on his face.
"I'll explain everything over breakfast, sound good?"
You gave him a face of pure bewilderment.
No, no it did not.
