One Shots - Capt. Maya Bishop and Dr. Carina DeLuca

Part III: The Fight

She feels her body being thrown to the side, the effect of the building coming down. She hears the muffled shouts of screaming. Her eyes are closed, she's too tired to keep it open. She tries to open her eyes when she feels someone press against her chest, she opens her eyes and sees Warren above her. She's being lifted taken to an Aid Car.

"Can you hear me, Maya" Ben asks

"A little" she shouts she sees him laugh which means she probably said that too loud. She tries to move her left arm to open zip down her jacket. Warren stops her, shakes his head and unzips the jacket for her and looks for her inside pocket. He feels paper and pulls it to give it to her and she slowly moves her head side to side, he turns the paper around to look at it. His face lights up.

"She's pregnant" he whispers. Maya nods yes and she has tears coming out of her eyes. He rolls the sonogram and puts it in her hand.

"You fight, Maya. You fight for Carina and you fight for your baby, Maya. You're a mama bear now" he says.

They arrive at Grey+Sloan and the Aid Car door opens and he reads off she stats. She can't hear anything Ben says to Teddy and Owen. Teddy looks at Owen then at the interns.

"No interns on this one. Call Schmidtt. Page Dr. Pierce, Dr. Shepard, Dr. Grey and Dr. Lincoln now. Bay 3 and get me Bailey's resident in here as well." Teddy yells.

Amelia comes rushing in, she listens to Teddy give her a breakdown.

"Her pupils are reactive which is good. I still want a scan done for any bleeds. Her ear canal is slightly damaged so everything will seem muffled for a while. It will heal on it's own".

Link comes into the trauma bay "her shoulder is dislocated, I'll look at her ankle as well. She has that old injury" he looks at her ankle and gently touches it "has anyone called Carina"

Maya squeezes Amelia's hand and removes her mask, Amelia moves to stop her "Maya you inhaled alot of smoke, the debris..." Maya removes the mask "my wife... Carina" she says slowly.

Carina feels the vibration of her pager, she looks at it "andiamo, Amelia needs me in the pit". Carina and  Gabri run as quickly as they can.

When Carina finds Amelia, she knows it's Maya "where is she" Carina asks

"She's in 3. We need to get her to the OR."

"Bambina.. "

Maya opens her eyes "I love you, Carina. I chose you. I'll always choose you" she looks at Gabriella "just keep her calm" she coughs out. She puts her mask back on and takes a breath "you know everyone is the best. Dammi un bacio" Gabriella laughs softly as Carina bends to kiss Maya "ti amo bella. Come back to me. To us" she whispers in Maya's ear.

"Carina, we have to go" Teddy looks Carina in the eye "we'll do everything. Everything we can" she looks at Schmidtt "all the interns in OR 4 with Webber"

She doesn't know how long she's in the trauma bay "she's going to be fine, Carina. You know she would do anything to come back to you" Gabriella tells her. Carina takes a few deep breaths, she has to keep herself calm, Maya will get through this. They make their way out of the busy area heading towards Carina's office, she freezes when she sees the rest of 19 waiting. They're covered in soot. She walks over to them "what are you doing here" she says to all of them.

"We... we wanted to know about Maya" Vic says

"You. You want to know about my wife" Carina says

Warren steps closer to Carina and whispers in her ear. Beckett and the Chief arrive and looks at everyone "have we heard anything about Bishop" she asks.
