Nothing but Lies and Hurt

All my life I've been tricked, lied to and hurt. Nothing but pain has come from this world. The government is corrupted, and the people in their city are dying. Money is power and that's all they care about, leeching everyone from everything they have. Us lowerclassmen will never be free from the shackles of this society, not unless someone steps up and makes a change.

"Today is the day we make things right," I say, looking over at Selena, the girl I had met the day after my parents had died and I had killed the person who killed them. I went to a bar, mourning their loss, getting drunk out of my mind. Stumbling out of the bar I was on the verge of tears when I bumped into her. She asked me what was wrong and I explained everything, the murder of my parents, the murder of the culprit, my view on this fucked up society. "What would you do if all your loved ones were killed in front of you? Would you be sane? Would you be okay?" I said laughing maniacally, I had gone mad, everyone I cared about was dead. Surprisingly she agreed with me.

"I'd want everyone who wronged me to pay." She shrugs, before taking me home. Since then we've been planning to overthrow this corrupted society and make the change that everyone didn't know they needed.

Back to reality, I needed to focus on what was happening now, not reminisce over the past. "You got the plan? Or do we need to go over it again?" I ask, strapping a knife to my waistband and hiding a gun in my coat.

"Of course I have it. We storm the building and eliminate everyone in our way until we make it to the governor's office. We confront him, get him to confess his sins, admit he was wrong then shoot him straight in the head. Stream the tapes to society, you do your whole speech thing." She smirks, reciting the plan perfectly as we had gone over it the very first time.

"Perfect." I nod, picking up a dagger from the table and hiding it in my boot. "Let's go then." I hum, opening the door, and gesturing to the car.

The car ride to our destination was mostly silent. All I could think about was the events to come, and how I had lost it. Would my parents be proud of me? Probably not, but I had to do what was right. Right for me, right for the people of my city. I didn't care how many people would die in the process, after all, there was no one else for me to care about in this world anyways. If I died trying to execute this plan, it would be something worth dying for. Maybe people would see the wrongs of the government and do something to speak up against it. No one else was, so I had to be the one to do it. After all, I had nothing left to lose.

Stopping in front of the government building, I take a deep breath before stepping out of the car. I practically had a death wish for doing this, unless everything goes according to plan and it's executed perfectly. It was a matter of luck being on my side today. It hadn't been my whole life, maybe today would be different. "Ready?" I ask, looking over at Selena.

"Ready as I'll ever be Joseph. Lead the way." She hums in response, tying her long black hair up into a high ponytail.

I nod back, opening the door to the lobby. Inside stood a few security guards. "We're here for a meeting with Governor Russo." I state, crossing my arms, trying to assert that I had some type of power and authority.

"Is that so?" One of the guard's questions, picking up a clipboard from the side and skimming through it with a pen. "Your name is?"

"Jayden. Jayden Mcullen." I grin, lying through my teeth. I couldn't use my real name or there was no way I'd get out of here alive.

"Jayden Mcullen? I'm not seeing Jayden Mcullen on the list of names for meetings today." The guard replies.

"Well that's rather unfortunate isn't it? I'm going to see the governor today whether you agree or not. So do you want the easy way? Or the hard way..." I smirk, my mind already yearning for the bloodlust to come.
