alex's point of view

later that night, i stayed up watching TV for as long as i could before i ended up getting hungry.

not feeling like cooking anything, i threw on some shoes and walked down to the cafeteria area. once down there, i walked over to the built in subway in the area.

whilst walking in, i noticed sophia standing in the corner involved in her phone.

at first, her eyes flickered up at me for a second at most. but after she looked back up, she smiled and waved while making her way over to me.

i grinned and waved back before walking up towards her and the counter.

"hey stranger!" she exclaimed, shoving at my elbow.

"hey sophia" i groaned out, looking down to her.

even though i'm not the tallest, she was still shorter than me. she was probably around 5'2.

"why are you down here so late?" she asked me, while watching the workers make the order i assumed was hers.

"i could ask you the same thing! but i'm hungry" i said.

she nodded her head to me.

"and why are you down here?" i asked.

"for the same reason as you, hungry but also bored. remember what i said about the seats tomorrow!" she smiled at me.

her smile is pretty.

the thought occurred quickly, but didn't leave until much later. whenever he would look at her, he could avoid watching her smile move as her face did and the way it always came right after she made facial expressions.

as i handed my wallet up to pay, sophia started speaking.

"how much was that?" she asked the worker.

"uh, 10.84" the girl at the counter stated.

"okay, uh, thank you" sophia said, handing the girl her card. i looked to her as the girl swiped it.

waiting to pester her until we sat down, i thanked the worker who gave me my food and made sophia follow me to the farthest corner in the store.

"sophia! why did you pay for my food?" i bugged her.

"because! friends do nice things for other friends" sophia exclaimed with her smile again.

she's beautiful.

that thought stuck with me throughout the night. when i layed awake at home, i thought about her smile. i couldn't help but think about it. as if my brain couldn't think of anything else but her. finally, i fell asleep. only to wake up tomorrow and not steal her seat.
