Chapter 2: Brotherly ClashThe school day passes by, and we are in our last class sparring. We have been holding a senior's tournament for the last week. We are in the quarter finals now and the rankings are me, a kid with a lance kokoro-kara, Vennni, against someone with a shield kokoro-kara, and two other matches. The match between one the two students I don't know just finished and now time for the other two students.
Their match starts, and I start observing them and their skills. One's kokoro-kara is a bow while the other one's is a pair of shuriken. A very odd match up to end up happening. I adjust myself to pay more attention to the fight. "What's up?" Venni asks, slightly startling me.
"Nothing, I just wonder how this match will end. Especially since each of them have to watch each move, they make since they have limited shots to strike".
My hand moves to my chin as I ponder and think about all the possible ways this can end. Venni shifts gears and leans in as well.
"You're right, once they use all their shots, they have to pick them up". Glancing to see my expression. "So, what does each person have to do to prevail?"
"In order for them to win they have to coax the other to waste their shots and hit while they are retrieving their weapons". A screeching whistle flying past us in the wind redirected our attention back to the battle. The archer reaches back to grab another arrow from his quiver. The shuriken user dodges with immense speed. The archer shifts into a rapidfire stance and barely misses the shuriken user.
Like a ghost the shuriken user was gone. Vanishing into thin air, only mere moments pass until he dropped down from the ceiling twenty feet in the air landing on his opponent leaving him unable to continue the match. Like that Venni got up and went to get ready for his match that was next.
The old contestants leave the gym floor and come back up to the bleachers above. Entering the gym from the left was Venni in his violet training gear as his opponent entered from the right. Coach stepped up to them.
"I want a clean match alright... now go!" Swing his arm down to signal the match to begin.
His opponent summons his shield while Venni summons his kokoro-kara. As if Venni mastered the speed of lightning he ended the match with two hits. First hitting his opponent's shield with a shoulder borage, then hitting them with the flat side of his kokoro-kara. Knowing he has won turns and heads back up to the stands. Thankfully there is a match between Venni and I's matches.
Unfortunately, the in-between match was uneventful and I'm up now. I walk out to the gym floor and get in a ready position. I summon my kokoro-kara Nobittla-Dalla-Paura. My opponent is doing the same. Coach starts the match. I swing my now golden sword around my wrist and bring it up to above my head. And reach out with my other hand leaving my pointer, middle finger out while closing my other fingers.
I calm my nerves and wait for my opponent to make the first move. My opponent thrusts their lance at me. I dodge her attack and quickly spin back around to face her. She quickly plunges another attack at me. I don't have enough time to dodge so I deflect her lance instead. She stumbled back giving me the perfect chance to end this match.
I take my shot and dash forward at her. I use my empty hand to grab the hilt of her lance and slide down on my knees and bring her to the ground. I stand up and point the blade of my sword to them pinning to the ground ending the match. Coach ended the match with me victorious.
