"Priya, i know that you have feelings for me..." Priya gasped widening her eyes while he continued "I've seen you blush around me often nowadays and the way you got worried for my health, the way my words hurted you so much and the way your eyes try to speak volumes to me.... i know it all... because i've been through it.. i know what love is...."
Priya lowered her eyes but he still had her hands held in his firmly...
"But priya, i found a friend in you... someone i don't want to lose.. i've not been myself in last few years but today i feel you've found that ram back and i don't want to get lost in the dark again... in that pain again... you know, with you i don't feel any pain... i just forget about it all..." Ram sighed while a tear fell off her eye...
"Priya" He called softly and she looked up at him...
"I want you as my friend, i want that priya back.... coz i'm not liking this priya who is behaving like a stranger to me... i can understand it may be difficult for you but i'm sorry... and priya i don't want to put any pressure upon you... its your wish either to continue our friendship or you can leave me... but i just want you to be happy"
He got up and walked out while tears rolled down her cheeks. What just happened?! He wants her to be his friend... he is in pain... what pain? He wants her happiness... he is ready to let go of their friendship for her happiness.. he cares for her... isn't that love? He doesn't like her to be away from him... isn't that love? He is attracted to her.. isn't that love?
She wiped her tears and went out to the lawn to try to clear her mind and take a decision...
She was sitting on the bench there when krishnaji came and sat next to her...
She looked at her and immediately wiped her tears...
Krishnaji pressed her shoulder "Priya, main jaanti hun andar kya hua... main udhar se guzar rahi thi aur maine ram ki baatein suni..."
Priya turned and lowered her head as her eyes filled with tears...
"Main jaanti hun priya tumhe kaisa mehsoos ho raha hai... par beta... ek maa ki baat suno toh.. main chahti hun tum yahin ruk jao.."
Priya looked at her and krishnaji nodded her head with teary eyes "Ram bohot badal gaya tha... lekin aajkal jo woh tumhare saath hai.. wohi mera ram hai... maine use bohot time baad aise muskuraate masti mazaak karte dekha hai priya... woh pagal yeh nahi jaanta ki yeh pyaar hai, apnepan ka ehsaas hai... ya jaanta hai par maanna nahi chahta..."
Priya looked at her in confusion...
"Dekha nahi tumne... woh tumse baat kiye bina nahi reh saka aur tumhari khushi chahta hai, tumhari itni chinta karne laga hai... "
Tears rolled down priya's cheeks and krishnaji wiped it "Nahi bete, aise nahi rote..."
Priya couldn't control anymore and started sobbing as krishnaji took her in a hug and caressed her hair...
"Priya, ram ka dil toota hai..."
Priya parted hearing that "Dil toota hai?"
"Haan priya, ram... shanaya se bohot pyaar karta tha... itna pyaar jo har ladki apne zindagi mein chahti hai... lekin main kahin na kahin jaanti thi ki shanaya waisi nahi hai jo ram samajhta tha..."
"Matlab?"
"Woh bas paison ke peeche bhaagne walon mein se thi... maine uske aankhon mein mere ram ke liye kabhi woh pyaar nahi dekha jo main tumhare aankhon mein dekhti hun... maine kayi baar ram ko batane ki koshish ki par woh maana nahi aur uske peeche paagal tha..."
"Fir kya hua maa?" Priya asked curiously.
"2 saal pehle, shanaya ne shaadi karli... ek businessman se jo london mein rehta hai... usne ram se yeh kaha ki uske maa baap ki majboori mein usne aisa kiya... aur bohot naatak kiya mere ram ke saamne... ram ne toh uske ghar jaakar bhi uske maa baap se baat karne ki koshish ki thi... aur uss din use pata chala ki shanaya khushi khushi abhimanyu se shaadi kar rahi hai.. naa ki koi zor zabardasti se..."
"Woh ram ke liye sab kuch thi... ram use sab kuch batata tha.. uske liye kya nahi kiya ram ne... par priya jo khushi mujhe tunhare saath dikhti hai ram shanaya ke saath bhi itna khush nahi tha... shanaya ne kabhi ram ke liye kuch nahi kiya hai.. woh sirf ek one side relationship tha... ram pagal tha uske peeche... kyunki ram ke itne dost nahi the... akelepan mein jee raha tha woh... aur jab achanak aisa insaan milta hai na ki lage andhera khatam hogaya hai... toh woh insaan ko uss shaks ke alawa kuch nazar nahi aata.."
Tears continuosly rolled down her cheeks .... how lonely ram is, how innocent he is... all this man was craving for some love and attention but how cruel life had been for him..
"Priya main bas itna kehna chahti hun ki, tujhe jo sahi lage woh kar... par main jaanti hun ki teri khushi ram ke saath hai aur ram ki tere saath... abhi nahi, par jald hi use iss baat ka ehsaas hoga ki tu hi uske liye bani hai..."
Caressing her cheek lovingly, krishnaji walked to the house leaving behind a thoughtful priya.
