The ride to work seemed longer than usual. Maybe it's because I had to sit next to a man who kept snoring all the way there, or the fact I took the wrong train. So I got to work at around 9:00, an hour later than usual. The boss wasn't very happy with me.
"John! Get your lazy ass in here, NOW!" Brian my boss yelled at me. I threw my bag down and walked into his office.
"Do you want to explain why you are so late today?" Brian asked me in a sarcastic tone.
"I took the wrong train." I replied.
"Oh and why did you do that?"
"Hey, it was a stupid mistake. Okay? Lay off for once, please."
"Who the hell do you think I am, a lazy pig who sits down all day and does nothing? No I am the owner of Central Banking, one of the most successful banks in the whole world." He obnoxiously replied.
"You don't say? Look, I have to get back on the new design for the buildings that we are building over in Toronto." I said as I walked out of his office and into mine. I sit down at my desk and turn it on only to see that I accidentally forgot to log off. Oops. I go to the last file used and load it. The 3D image comes to life showing me the new building designs.
I immediately start working because for the deadline for the design is due in a hour. It takes me about 45 minutes to finish it all. I make sure to save it on my thumb drive. I stick my thumb into the side of the desk and, as usual, the tickling sensation of the needle onto my thumb makes me chuckle. I rush over to Brian's office and I tell him I am done with the design. I walk over to his desk and put my finger into the center and I show him every little detail in the building. From the windows to the bathrooms, every inch is covered.
"Good work John. I think this is probably the most secure bank in the whole company." He grabs my hand and turns it over and draws an 8 on the back of it.
"Thanks boss." I reply smiling.
I walk back to my office and hear a beep meaning the money Brian just put into my account was approved. I order an iced coffee from downstairs and look out my office window at the beautiful forest that lies behind. I have always wanted to go explore but I never have time. I finish up and head home, not waiting to unbox my new IPhone 25.
