"You're coming with me Madds"
"Can I opt out?"
"no"
"Okay well, I'm filing a complaint" She crossed her arms and looked out of the window, at the array of plants on the balcony.
it was still strange to her, coming on the bus from campus to the fancy building of condominiums, some kids just get the jackpot from their parents when it comes to affording amenities in college.
Valerie pouted at Maddie's dismissal, sticking out her bottom lip. She holds out her phone, the screen displaying ticket information for VidCon. "I'm buying you a ticket anyways."
Maddie rolled her eyes, "Well that's mature, if you do I'll just give it to some rando on my way to work."
"Okay ouch, but Maddie, you LOVE YouTube and twitch! You use it more than I do."
She sighed. "All I watch is HermitCraft and nerdy stuff!" She exclaimed, "Look, Val, it's just not my crowd. I'm pretty sure everyone who goes are just incels and stans anyways."
Valerie flipped upside down on the couch with a whine, "That's why I don't wanna go alone. I bet there are some major weirdos but I wanna meet the Dream Team." She paused before adding, "I'll pay for the hotel and everything."
Maddie's eyebrows shot up, "like you have that money."
"I do!"
They lapsed into silence, Valerie still upside down and scrolling through the VidCon homepage while Maddie lay on the floor contemplating. She groaned, running her hand over her face before mumbling, "I'll go, BUT I'm not going to any meet and greets or anything like that."
"Okay, but why?"
Maddie shook her head forlornly, "Never meet your heroes kid."
Valerie chuckled, flipping back over on the couch before the blood started rushing to her head. A few moments pass..."Wait, I'm older than you, what the HELL."
Maddie simply stood up, stretching. "The fact you had to think about it proves my point," she chuckled, before checking the time on her phone. "anyways I'm off."
"already?" she hums, "It's not that late",
That's was a total lie, Maddie thought to herself, and looked back at her watch. She double checked, and the numbers flashed 12;09 AM.
"yeah, but I got that Video editing project due in a few days, don't wanna procrastinate too much." Maddie shrugs on her coat before grabbing her keys off the counter. Just before she opens the door Val calls from the living room,
"Don't forget, VidCon in 3 weeks!"
"How could I forget when I have you to nag me?" she tossed the comment over her shoulder with a smirk, despite Valerie being out of view.
She could hear laughter float from the other room before Val responded "Bye Madds!"
shutting the door behind her the mumbled, "Am I really doing this just so she can meet the Dream Team?"
Yes, yes she was.

Time skip cause I'm lazy and impatient 🤌The clock read 9:30 PM, as Maddie, clad in a baggy T-shirt and plaid pajama pants, was still shuffling through her closet for the impending trip to Anaheim. As she was packing for VidCon, She was able to do more research on the convention. And honestly, she may have been a bit dramatic when saying she didn't wanna go. There was far more to do there than just meet-and-greets and panels, which was surprising. On and off for the past few weeks she listened to YouTube videos about the concerts and the Expo hall, and stuff to do around the city. She was slowly but surely getting more hyped about the trip.
