"Welcome to Sunny Forest Mental Facility! How may I help you?" A petite lady behind the front desk chirped.
"Hello, I'm Mike Hemmings. This is my wife, Martha, and my daughter, Chelsea. I called a week ago about getting Chelsea admitted?" My father told the lady.
"Ah, yes. Just sign these papers and we can get her in right now!" She exclaimed. How is she so happy? Oh yeah, she's not the one being put in a psycho ward!
My parents signed all the papers they needed to, hugged and kissed me goodbye, and then walked out.
The chirpy lady walked over to me and said, "Hi! I'm Linda, and I'm going to show you around!" She walked out of the room and motioned for me to follow her.
We walked into a large room. There were a few people my age in there reading books and playing on the X-Box that was connected to the large TV in there.
"This is the hangout room. You can come here and socialize with the other patients when you aren't in therapy." She told me as she started quickly walking out of the room. "I'm going to show you to your bedroom now."
"Wait, wait," I said as I ran to catch up with her, "I have my own bedroom?"
"Well, sort of. You have to share it." She said.
"What?!" I shrieked.
"SHH!" She whisper-shouted. "Your roommate's name is Elena."
We started walking down a really long hallway. There were doors lining both sides of it. About halfway down the hallway, Linda stopped abruptly. I looked up at the door, and saw that there was a number on it. 274.
"Ok! This is your room. Elena should be in there, and she can help you settle in. She's kind of shy around new people, so just be nice. Here's your schedule." She handed me a piece of paper. "It tells you where to be and when but, for the most part, just follow Elena around. I scheduled all of your stuff at the same time, except for your one-on-one therapy session, but she can show you where that is."
She opened to the room I was to be staying in and walked inside. I followed her in and was surprised at what I saw.
The room wasn't all white, blank walls like I always thought of when I thought of hospitals. The walls were actually a pale yellow and had posters on them, sort of like a normal teen's room.
"Um..hi?" I heard a soft voice say from across the room. I looked at where it came from and saw a girl with long, blonde hair sitting on a bed. She was looking over at me and holding a tattered copy of Little Women.
"Hi Elena!" Linda said walking in behind me. "This is your new roommate, Chelsea."
"Oh...hey," Elena mumbled, going back to her book.
While she read, Linda left me to get unpacked. I couldn't bring much from home besides clothes, shoes, etc. so it didn't take long. After a while I was just sitting on my bed, staring at the ceiling. All of the sudden, the door opened and someone walked in.
"Hey Elena! Can I borrow your- oh hi."
