The ball was full of happy and chatty faces, guests were enjoying themselves, yet no faces were seen, they were covered by stunning masks, masks of many designs.
The orchestra was playing a triumphant tune but covered by the laughs of females giggling at the lords. The ball room floor was full of people dancing, the atmosphere was perfect, people forgetting their worries and troubles, ladies flirting with the lords fluttering their hair and smiling.
There was but one girl who was not dancing nor enjoying the occasion. She was wearing a stunning pink dress with white trims, her mask was white covering her face, she has pink lips and her hair was brown, it was down with pearls intertwined in it. She was standing in the crowd making a ring around the ball room, around the people dancing in the middle of it. This girl stared at the couples dancing, the chemistry and trust of the people dancing, she sighed, what game were these people playing with one another?
Then, a man walked into the ball room, he was wearing a white suit with a pink mask covering his eyes. The girl stared at him. His hair was blonde and straighten, in the mask where soft blue eyes. The girl watched as the man looked over the crowd of people with a straight almost emotionless face, hen. . . they both locked eyes.
The man walked over to the girl, once he got there, they looked at one another in silence, the most and noises of the other people in the background.
"Care for the next dance?" The man said putting his hand out.
The girl nodded.
The next song started playing, the man lead her to the ball room floor. The girl put one hand on her skirt and the other locked with the man's hand, his other hand was softly placed around her waist. As the danced to the song it was like no one was in the room with them it was just them, they were both locked in this game, but they did not know the rules. What were the rules? It was a game but between them, they both had to make up the rules as they went along. The pair continued to danced, the mans hands exploring her delicate body.
His hands felt warm and safe, as they danced the man moved his lips closer to the girls, she looked deep into his soft eyes and saw his faint pink lips move merely touching hers, they felt each others breath.
This dance was their game, a sensual game, they needed to trust one another, that was all they needed, the girl trusted the man, she felt like she knew him but did not know his name, nor his identity, it was covered by the mask.
"What is your name sir?" The girl whispered to the man.
"I cannot tell you my darling" he said "for it shall ruin this moment."
They both went silent.
What were the rules of their game, they were strangers but felt a connection, a bond between them both almost like fate had brought these people together.
The song finished, the man leg go of the girls hand and she curtsied to him.
"Irish." the man said
The girl looked at him, puzzled.
"Lord Irish. That is my name." he said
