Looking towards the future and what direction I want to take my career as a journalist, writer, and as a person, I wanted to start a transition to a new form of content by dedicating a considerable amount of dedication to something that both gives back and pays tribute to those who are no longer with us.

My goal is that by July, 2023, a full-length biography of Jarad Higgins, professionally known as Juice WRLD, “Legends Never Die” will be fully written and edited.

First, I wanted to write a little bit about the psychology behind the lettering, and overall style of the biography’s cover. The three components to the psychology I try to portray in the cover design are the actual background photo (Juice on an ATV,) the lettering (font choices+ text colors,) as well as the overall theme of the cover.

The main three components of the cover include the background photo, the lettering, and the overall theme. I wanted to portray some of the artistic brilliance of Juice in a way that attempts to match that brilliance.

Background Photo Choice

For the background photo, my main concern was ensuring I was maintaining a certain level of privacy of Juice as well as respect for the original photographers copyright rights. When I was looking for photos that matched both of these characteristics, my immediate thought was to check out Unsplash, where some generous photographers allow their work to be reused.

The unfortunate part of Unsplash is that really, there isn’t many photos of specific people or celebrities. Photos of celebrities are usually done by highly-monetized photography firms not looking to help smaller, independent artists. There were only two photographers who had been kind enough to upload their photos to Unsplash.

I am going to mention the first photographer, Joel because he’s the photographer of the picture I actually ended up using for the book cover. Joel Muniz, the owner of Infrared LA, had uploaded 6 photos of Juice to Unsplash. All the of the unique photos seemed to be from the same shoot, yet each maintained a different feel than each other.
