INT. – motel - Day
The gang are sleeping. Dean's phone rings but he does not wake up.
"Dean." Sam said
Dean still doesn't wake up. Sam answers the phone.
"Hello?"
OUT. A payphone in California - Day
The scene alternates between the payphone and the motel bedroom.
"Sam, is that you?" Sam said
Sam sits up in bed
"Dad? Are you hurt?" Sam asked.
"I'm fine," John Said
"We've been looking for you everywhere. We didn't know where you were, if you were okay."
"Sammy, I'm all right. What about you and Dean, Betsy, Harley, and Tilly?"
At the motel, Dean is waking up.
"We're fine. Dad, where are you?" Sam asked
Dean sat up in bed.
"Sorry, kiddo, I can't tell you that." John
"What? Why not?" Sam asked
"Is that Dad?" Dean asked
"Sounds like John" Harley mumbled as she woke up
"The asshole," Tilly mumbled
"Look, I know this is hard for you to understand. You're just gonna have to trust me on this."
"You're after it, aren't you? The thing that killed Mom."
"Yeah. It's a demon, Sam." John said
"Could have told us that sooner" Tilly groaned
"A demon? You know for sure?" Sam asked
"A demon? What's he saying?" Dean asked
"I do. Listen, Sammy, I, uh...I also know what happened to your girlfriend and Tilly's sister. I'm so sorry. I would've done anything to protect you from that." John said.
"No he wouldn't, mom is gone because of him," Harley grumped
"You know where it is?" Sam asked
"Yeah, I think I'm finally closing in on it." John replied
"Let us help." Sam said
"Ugh I don't care" Harley said"
"You can't. You can't be any part of it." John said
""Why the fuck can we not dickhead" Tilly raged from where she is in the bed
"Why not?" Sam asked in a more civilized tone
"Give me the phone." Dean said
"Listen, Sammy, that's why I'm calling. You and your brother, you gotta stop looking for me. Alright, now, I need you to write down these names." John said
"Names? What names, Dad—talk to me, tell me what's going on." Sam asked
"Look, we don't have time for this. This is bigger than you think, they're everywhere. Even us talking right now, it's not safe." John said
"We have the whole ass day" Tilly said
"No. Alright? No way." Sam said
"Give me the phone." Dean hissed
"I have given you an order. Now, you stop following me, and you do your job. You understand me? Now, take down these names. " John said
"Yeah great another order" Betsy complained
