Ramble On(Season One)

Route 666

EXTERIOR. GAS STATION

Sam is looking at a map laid out on top of the car, Dean has his phone to his ear.

"Ok. I think I found a way we can bypass that construction just east of here. We might even make Pennsylvania faster than we thought." Sam said

"Yeah. Problem is, we're not going to Pennsylvania." Dean said

"We're not?" Harley asked confused

"We what?" Sam asked

"I just got a call from an, uh, old friend. Her father was killed last night, think it might be our kind of thing." Dean said

"Old friend sure" Betsy mumbled because she knew who this old friend is

"What?" Sam asked

"Yeah. Believe me, she never woulda called, never, if she didn't need us. Come on, are you coming or not?"" Dean asked

"No" Betsy said

"Hey Harley, she has a daughter about your age I can set you up with," Dean said.

"Is she hot?" Harley asked

"She looks like her mother, so I would think yes, but I'm not in the habit of noticing if 13 year old girls are hot," Dean said

Impala cruises down the road, fields on one side, a lake on the other.

"By old friend you mean...?" Sam asked

"More like old girlfriend" Tilly said with a laugh

"Are we seriously going to see Dean be all love sick with her" Betsy groaned

"A friend that's not new." Dean said

"Oh yeah, thanks. So her name's Cassie huh? You never mentioned her.." Sam said

"Didn't I?" Dean asked

A long pause, Sam looks at Dean expectantly.

"Yeah, we went out and I met her daughter, Shaniyah, a few times," Dean said

"You mean you dated somebody? For more than one night. And you met their kid?" Sam said

"Am I speaking a language you're not getting here? Dad and I were working a job in Ohio, she was finishing up college. We went out for a coupla weeks." Dean said

"And...?" Sam asked again

Dean shrugs slightly.

""Look, it's terrible about her dad, but it kinda sounds like a standard car accident. I'm not seeing how it fits with what we do. Which by the way, how does she know what we do?" Tilly asked

"You never know if it's a job unless you ask around and I vote we ask around" Harley said

"You only want to go for the hot girl and you know it" Betsy said

"Don't out me like that" Harley said

Dean looks shifty.

"You told her. You told her, the secret! Our big family rule number one. We do what we do and we shut up about it. For a year and a half I do nothing but lie to Jessica, and you go out with this chick in Ohio a coupla times and you tell her everything?" Sam said

Dean stays silent, staring straight ahead.

"Dean!" Sam shouted

"Yeah. Looks like." Dean

"Can we please not fight" Tilly asked already tired of the conversation

He continues staring ahead and puts his foot down. Sam does the bitchface, shaking his head.
