ANTHEA

╚══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══╝

I nervously sat in the waiting room of the doctor's office, my hand resting protectively over my growing belly. This was the first appointment I had made to check on my baby, and I couldn't shake off the feeling of anxiety that had been building up inside of me.

Just as I was starting to lose my composure, the door opened and an older woman with a warm smile called out my name.

"Alexia? Please come in,"she said.

What?

Alexia is a good fake name.

I gathered my purse and stood, walking into the examination room with shaky legs. The doctor gestured for me to lay down on the examination table, and I did so hesitantly.

"So, this is your first check-up?" the doctor asked, scrolling through my chart.

I nodded, my heart beating faster with each passing moment.

"Well, everything looks good so far,"she said with a reassuring smile. "Let's have a listen to your baby's heartbeat, shall we?"

She placed the stethoscope on my belly and we both waited with bated breath. Finally, the strong rhythm of my baby's heartbeat filled the room, and a wave of relief washed over me.

"That's the sound of a healthy baby," the doctor said, smiling kindly at me.

Tears prickled at the corners of my eyes as I whispered a silent prayer of gratitude. As the doctor continued with the examination, I couldn't help but think about my life.

But as I lay here, listening to the strong heartbeat of my unborn child, I couldn't help but feel a sense of protectiveness and love wash over me. A feeling that was foreign yet so overwhelming.

"Everything looks great, Miss Alexia. You and your baby are healthy," the doctor said, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Do you want the picture?" I nodded at her, wiping my stomach.

"Your baby is very healthy; you need to eat healthy foods and not put yourself under any stress." I nodded again.

"Here you go." I took the pictures and looked at my bean. It was still so small, but you could see ahead.

As I left the doctor's office, I couldn't wait to share the news with Madeline.

I called for Madeline, and she entered the room.

"Madeline, I wanted to talk to you about something," I said, trying to sound as calm as possible.

She looked at me with curiosity and concern, "Is everything alright, Anthea?"

I smile, "Yes, everything is fine. I just wanted to tell you... I went today to my first appointment."

"And," you can hear her excitement.

"I am pregnant," I say to her, a but nervous as I should be.

"Congratulations!" She says as she hugs me tightly.

"Thanks."

"How is the baby doing?" Madeline asked, genuinely interested.

"The baby is doing great," I replied with a little bit of pride.

Madeline beamed, "I'm so happy for you, Anthea. I'm sure the baby will be just as amazing as the mother."

I chuckled, "Thank you, Madeline. That means a lot coming from you."

"Madeline, grab me another slice of pizza, will you?" I said with a sheepish smile as I patted my swollen belly," she had become my partner in crime when it came to satisfying my late night pregnancy cravings.

"Of course, Anthea," Madeline replied with a chuckle as she handed me another slice.

"No one can know about these late night pizza cravings, not even the boys," I said with a wink.

"Your secret is safe with me, Anthea," Madeline assured me with a smile.

"But it's not just pizza, is it? You've been eating everything in sight lately."

I let out a sigh and leaned back in my chair. "Yes, I have. But don't worry, I've been keeping track of my macros and making sure I don't go overboard."

Madeline shook her head in amusement.

"I never thought I'd see the day when Anthea, the feared one, would be counting her macros"

I couldn't help but laugh at her observation. It was true, I was a force to be reckoned with in the underworld as the leader of one of the most powerful mafia families. But now, with this little bundle of joy growing inside me, I couldn't help but indulge in my cravings.

"I just can't wait to meet my little one," I said with a smile, placing a hand on my belly. "But for now, I'll continue to enjoy all the food."

Madeline shook her head again, her eyes full of fondness. "You'll make a great mother, Anthea. Your child will be lucky to have you."

"Thank you, Madeline,"I replied, touched by her words.

"And thank you for being here with me, keeping me sane during this crazy time."

"It's my pleasure, Anthea," Madeline said with a warm smile. "Now, how about some ice cream for dessert?"

I couldn't help but grin. "You know me too well, Madeline. Let's go all out with the toppings this time."

After that I was getting tired, and my baby needs the dream. So I drank the vitamins that Madeleine left there.

It just helps me sleep better.

I could feel my eyes getting closed.
