Liz' POV

I woke up to the blaring of Ariana Grande's The Way in my ear. I turned off the alarm by slapping my phone and then I sat up in my bed putting my head against the headboard. After a few seconds, I got up. I went in the bathroom and started to brush my teeth. I have an en suite, so I have a bathroom attached to my room. After this, I got in the shower and started thinking about today.

Today is my first day of high school since we've moved back. I'm now a senior. We moved back to California about a month ago. I lived here for most of my life so I have a friend or two that still lives here. We live in Greys Village and have been for most of my life. We went to Puerto Rico after my parents died to live with our abuela and by we, I mean me, Rosa and Carlos. While in Puerto Rico, I ditched the glasses that I used to wear and finished the amount of years I was supposed to wear the braces for and got a super hot body. So, its no surprise if no one recognizes me.

After I got out of the shower, I put on the outfit that I put out the night before which included a mickey mouse shirt, a black high waisted skirt, a gold necklace, and black converse sneakers. Then my sister came in my room.

"Lizzie, breakfast is ready when you come down." She looked at her watch and her face turned to panic mode. "Okay, forget what I said. No time for breakfast. Pick something up on the way. Come downstairs ahora," she said speaking a little Spanglish. We used to speak in full Spanish with our parents at home, but now everything has changed.

"Okay. I'm coming."

She closed my door and I got my back pack and went downstairs. I saw Rosa downstairs getting Javier ready for daycare.

"I'm assuming that Carlos left already." Rosa answered me by giving me a sad smile. "I guess I'll ride my bike." Carlos is Rosa's fiance since last year when he popped the question in Puerto Rico. Carlos lives with us. Usually Carlos takes Javier to daycare and Rosa gives me a ride to school, but today, he went to work early. Javier's daycare and my school are on the opposite sides of town from each other.

I said my good byes and went outside to my neon yellow bike and started to ride. I guess that I'll stop bye a café before I get to school.

I stopped by a local café and got a donut and then went to the Starbucks next door to get an iced coffee. Then I made my way to school with my food and drink in the basket on my bike.

When I reached the school, I went to the bike rack and parked my bike. I then took my donut and drink out of the basket and looked around. All eyes were on me and I could hear people whispering. I can't believe that I'm getting attention and not in a bad way. I decided to take advantage of the moment.

I swung my backpack over my shoulder and put my donut and drink in one hand. Then I flipped my hair and made my way up the stairs. I blew a kiss in the direction of some random guy and he fainted. Then, when I got up the stairs, I winked at another random guy and made my way to the office.

I got to the office and made my way to the front desk where a lady in her mid 40s was sitting.

"Excuse me," I said getting the woman's attention. The woman looked up from the pile of papers that she was previously shuffling through. She put a smile on her face and so did I. What can I say? Her smile was contagious.

"Hello dear. How can I help you this morning?"

"Hey, I was wondering where to get my schedule."

"Oh, yes. Well, there will be an assembly to start school in the auditorium. If you look out the window into the hallway, you will see students with bright yellow sashes on. They are our hallway monitors. They will be here all week to gave you directions wherever you will need to be," the woman ,whose name card in front of the desk read "Mrs. Hasten", said pointing towards the window.
