A/N: Sorry I haven't updated for a week, works been busy!
"I can drive," Chloe insisted for the third time. She, Ella and Lucifer were standing in the parking lot at the station. Ella was going to follow them in her own car and park a few lots over in case something were to happen. Dan would have been an obvious choice, but no one knew where he was and the three were running out of time. Besides, Father Crowe had told Lucifer not to tell anyone, and since Ella already knew, he technically wasn't telling anyone.
"Detective, I understand you can drive." He ran both of his hands through his hair, exasperated. "But I think given the circumstances, I should be the one driving."
"Guys!" Ella spoke up.
The couple turned their attention to her.
"As much as I enjoy the Deckerstar banter, now is not the time." She told them. "Decker, I'm going to be down the street, okay?"
Chloe took a calming breath and nodded. "I'll send Trixie out to you."
"Detective, you are not staying, " Lucifer argued. He just got her back, he wasn't willing to lose her all over again. He was also still trying to figure out why he only seemed to get injured when she was around. He couldn't have them both getting hurt. When there was no response, Lucifer opened the passenger door for her and watched her reluctantly slip into the luxury car. He gave a tight nod to Ella as he got into the drivers side and started the engine.
"I'll be right behind you," she assured them. Her tone wasn't as cheerful as normal, and it left an unsettling feeling in the pit of his stomach.
The drive to the church was quiet. The only sounds that could be heard were the road noise of the still-busy streets of Los Angeles and Chloe's bouncing knee. Lucifer watched her from the corner of his eye as he drove. Every once in a while he would check in his rear view to see Miss Lopez still following them.
"Detective," he placed his right hand on her bobbing knee as he pulled up to their destination. "She is fine. We will get her out of there." Although he spoke with confidence, Lucifer began to become nervous himself. Trixie was her entire life. If anything happened to her, no matter how strong the Detective was, he wasn't sure she could handle it.
Chloe only nodded, not trusting her voice. She had to be strong, even if it was just keeping a cool head so they could get Trixie out of harm's way as quickly as possible.
The pair made their way around the back of the building, Chloe keeping her hand hovering over her gun strapped to her hip. Neither were sure what to expect.
"Miss Lopez is waiting across the street at the bakery," he noted. Not sure whether he was telling the Detective that, or talking to himself.
When they finally made it to the back of the building, Lucifer took the lead. He found the door, hidden behind an overgrown tree. Surprised when he didn't have to break the lock, they entered the damp basement.
"I suppose he knows we're coming," He mused. "No need to make an entrance." Then louder, "Father. Release the child and I will comply with whatever you want." He knew he shouldn't give him that power, considering what the priest wanted was Lucifer condemned to Hell for all eternity. Not only did he not want to go back to Hell, but he had known Chloe wouldn't take that well either. She could handle it, sure. It was definitely a better alternative to her spawn dying. However, he was determined to find a solution where neither would have to happen. Was he willing to go back to Hell for this? He looked at Chloe, who was clearly trying to put on a brave front. Whether it be for him or her daughter he didn't actually know.
