Marc Weiland and Luke Taylor looked up from their tasks at the diner as the door opened, "Hi, welcome to Bob's Diner," they said at the same time as a woman in her late twenties walked in with a little girl behind her. "Find a seat and we'll be with you soon."
"Hi," the woman said pushing her black hair over her shoulder. "Thank you."
The daughter followed behind her mother and sat down across from her once they decided on a table. "Hi, I'm Luke, what can I get you to drink?" Luke asked as he came over shortly after.
"Sweet tea for me please," the mom said taking the menu from him. "What would you like to drink, Gabrielle?"
"Milk, please," the girl said opening a fashion coloring book.
"Plain, strawberry, or chocolate?" he asked smiling.
"Chocolate please," she said after her mom nodded at her.
"You got it," he said nodding, "I'll be right back." He headed to the back and frowned, "Hey Marc, that girl look kind of familiar to you?"
"What do you mean?" Marc asked as he made the drinks.
"Oy, Momma," the girl sighed loudly. "Why did you choose black dye? It's going to take freaking forever to get rid of now!"
"Gabrielle Angelique!" the woman hushed while looking around. "Don't be rude!"
"Sorry Momma," She rolled her eyes then went back to coloring. "Is this where you met my father?"
Marc and Luke looked at one another curiously. "No, Gabby, this isn't where I met your father," the woman said as she reached over and pushed the hot pink strands of hair that framed her daughter's face behind her ears. "I've told you, I met him at a fashion show."
"Yeah, but you also said you met again at a restaurant and really got to know each other. Was it here?" Gabrielle asked inquisitively.
"No," the woman shook her head, "it wasn't here."
"Here you go," Luke said as he set the glasses down. "Are you ready to order?"
"I'll have a club sandwich, no tomatoes please," the woman said, "with a house salad and ranch dressing, Gabby?"
"Grilled chicken sandwich and fries, please," the girl said as she drew in some sketches in the book.
"Hey, that's really good," Luke said looking at the drawing.
"Thanks," Gabrielle said without looking up. "I like to draw."
"That's cool, I can only draw stick figures," Luke chuckled. "I'll be right back with your food."
"Thanks," they said at the same time making Luke smirk as it reminded him of his family.
"You are looking way too much into it," Marc shook his head as he began cooking.
"You think?" Luke asked as he leaned his back against the counter and tilted his head.
"Yeah," Marc nodded. "I mean, I see what you are saying, but there's no way. It's just a coincidence. A lot of kids can draw, and a lot of girls have that hair style because of that X-Men movie Corey likes to watch. It's popular now. Besides we all got that long talk from Doc, remember?"
"Yeah, okay," Luke nodded as he went to greet some more customers that came into the diner.
Pretty soon the dinner rush hit and by the time Luke had a chance to catch his breath, the mother and daughter were gone. He pushed it into the back of his head and focused on helping Marc and the other waitress that had shown up to help clean up so they could start closing the diner.
By the time both Marc and he made it home, Luke had completely forgotten about it. He was tired and just wanted to go to bed. As he entered the living room, he saw that the rest of his family was already there waiting on him and Marc.
"Was the diner busy?" North Taylor, Luke's biological half brother, asked.
"A little more than normal but nothing too bad," Marc nodded as he plopped down on the couch.
"How was the photo shoot, Gabe?" Victor Morgan asked as he practiced a new song on the piano.
"Oy, it was fucking ridiculous," Gabe rolled his eyes as he sighed, "I hate fucking models, they are so goddamn stupid."
"Now now, watch your language Gabe," Luke chuckled, "you're a father now, you can't be talking like that anymore."
"Oy, what the fuck are you talking about?" Gabe asked totally confused.
Marc burst out laughing as everyone else looked at them bewildered. Luke held his stomach from laughing so hard. "There was a mom and daughter in earlier and the girl had a hairstyle similar to Gabe's and she was drawing very well for her age. She was also complaining of her mom dying her hair black, it just made us laugh because it was almost like a female mini version of Gabe," Marc explained.
"That would be pretty funny to see," Nathan chuckled.
"Oy, there's no way in hell I have a fucking child," Gabe shook his head while throwing a throw pillow at Luke's head, "that's not fucking funny, knock it the fuck off!"
"We know it's not possible," Marc chuckled, "we just thought it was funny, chill out."
