" Blake? "
" hm? "
" Its noon, you need to get up. "I barely see him shake his head no under the covers. I sigh and leave the room, he must be having one of those days.
I walk into the living room and make myself cozy on our couch. Turning on the TV I flipped to my pre-recorded show The Originals.
I was mid episode when my phone started to ring.
" Hello? "
" Hey Mel, I know its your day off but could you please come in and look over this draft? "
" Yeah, I guess I could-"
" Thank you so much! "
"-but I could also quit my job and move to L.A and marry Harry Styles sooo. " I trailed off, waiting for her response to my sarcasm.
I heard her groan on the other end and couldn't help but let out a laugh.
" Chill fam, I got you covered. "
I heard her sigh in relief " Seriously Mel, thank you so much! "
" It really not a big deal, but I better head out now. Peace out Girl Scout. "
" Bye girl! "
I felt slightly annoyed that I had to turn my show off but I also knew this draft had to be perfect before we sent it out to be published.
Snatching my keys off the hook by the door, I made my way to my car. Once inside I pulled down the visor to check my reflection. My blonde-brown hair fell straight down my shoulders with the exception of one strand sticking off the side of my head. Patting it down quickly, I shut the visor and turned my car on.
Pulling up to the front of the building I worked in, I handed the keys to the valet.
After saying my hellos to everyone in the lobby, I made my way to my own office, and just as expected the new manuscript was waiting for me on my desk.
Pulling out my chair I sat down and typed in the book number into my computer to find the digital version, the one I was supposed to look over before we sent the book out to print.
After a couple of hours of skimming through for any more mistakes and making small changes I gave the freshly printed manuscript the go ahead.
I stood up, stretching all of my limbs and letting out a loud yawn that resembled the sound of a pterodactyl screech.
Smiling to myself, I walked down the narrow hallway to find if my best friend was still here.
I felt slightly dissapointed when I found that her office was empty, but kinda relieved at the same time that I wouldn't have to wait any longer for lunch.
Once the valet brought my car back around I slid into the drivers seat and made my way back home.
I felt puzzled as I drove into the drive way to find a shiny, white car parked in my spot.
Who the heck is that?
Turning off the car I walked over to the front door to find that it was wide open, causing my heart rate to pick up.
I pushed it to the side slightly and stuck only my head inside, inspecting the interior. When I thought of Blake asleep and unaware in the back room I started to panic.
One foot in front of the other I slowly edged inside of the house, straining to hear anything.
I heard a rattle come from the kitchen and almost jumped out of my skin. Picking up the lamp from the side table in the living room I braced myself, moving in the direction of the kitchen.
Raising the lamp over my head I creeped in the doorway and paused when a head full of blonde hair came into view facing away from me. I held my breath before charging into the kitchen, bringing down the lamp and smashing it onto the intruders head.
The tall male quickly turned around, his bright green eyes widened in alarm as he fell back into the counter.
I lifted the lamp ready to strike again when he raised both arms across his face.
" Wait! Wait! Wait! Please! "
I hesitated for only a moment before I went to bring the lamp back down when suddenly a strong hand grabbed my arm.
I turned in confusion to find Blake standing behind me, amusement dancing in his eyes.
" Uh, what are you doing?! " I asked him incredulously.
" Trying to stop you from killing my cousin. " he said, trying to hold in his laughter.
" oh. "
