~09.03.2021 [Past]~
As Ash pressed the button to open up the cash register, an exciting thought popped into her head. Wasn't it her break soon?
After sorting out the notes in the final compartment of the register, she slipped her iPhone out of the back pocket into ripped jeans letting then screen light up. It read 11:45. Ash smiled at the thought as this meant her break was in exactly 15 minutes. The young adult loved her job, don't get me wrong, but talking to strangers all day majorly drained her social battery.
RING RING
The bell on the door rung again, signalling another customer had stepped foot into the shop- she better serve them actually.
Ash smiled, "Hello, what can I get you?" she asked sweetly, she was actually weirdly drawn to the customer for some reason.
"Uhm..could I have..-" Robin paused, going over the options, "-..a caramel latte please?"
"Of course you can! Regular or a large?" Ash asked tilting her head, just noticing the non-binary pin on the satchel they were wearing across their body.
"A large please!" Robin exclaimed, pushing her hair backwards so it's no longer obstructing her vision.
Ash smiled politely and nodded, getting to work on the making of the caramel latte, "Is that a non-binary pin on your satchel by the way?" she asked hesitantly.
Robin looked up and smiled, "Yeah! I'm a non-binary lesbian, she/they pronouns. What about you?" she asked curiously.
"Oh-" she paused, clicking the button on the machine to mix the coffee, "That's really cool! Im bi, myself. She/her pronouns."
"Oo!!" Robin made a sound of happiness, "Another queer in the wild world." she joked.
"Indeed!" Ash laughed, just about finishing Robin's coffee and placing the lid on, "Here you go! That'll be...£3.45!"
Robin placed their card on the card reader, and once it had beeped she took it off taking her coffee from the counter, "Actually- when are you next on break? You seem cool and I'd like to get to know you!"
"Oh- uh, I'm on break pretty soon actually, I'm about 10 minutes I believe." Ash said, taking a wild estimate.
"Great! Meet me over there in 10 then?" Robin smiled, pointing over to a table at the corner of the cafe. Ash nodded, smiling politely.
This is how the two met, and little did they know, some peculiar feelings would spark between them later on.
