Chapter 2

A small smile had grown on the boy's face in amusement "murdered by pirates is good!"

His older sister gave him a dirty look as she continued to read "can I finish after mom had interrupted me mid-paragraph?"

"Uh sure I guess"

The girl sighed and continued to read "...she went into her room and shut the door. And for days she neither slept nor ate."

Nene sat almost lifeless in her chair. "I will never love again."

And sadly... this happened to be true

"Five years later, the main square of Florin City was filled as never before to hear the announcement of the great Prince Teru's bride-to-be."

Trumpets sounded as the royal family was now entering.

Teru looked upon his soon-to-be kingdom of his, so obviously, he had to speak to them, although he never liked speaking to peasants. "My people, a month from now, our country will have its 500th anniversary. On that sundown, I shall marry a lady who was once a commoner like yourselves. But perhaps you will not find her common now. Would you like to meet her?"

The crowd cheered almost hurting most people's ears.

"My people, the Princess Nene."

The bugles started to play at her entrance as Nene tried her best to not cry. She walked out and started to look at the people standing on one knee as they saw her, sadly this did not lift her spirits in any way.

"Nene's emptiness consumed her. Although the law of the land gave Teru the right to choose his bride, she did not love him."

Nene rode through the woods on horseback. She always thought about her life while on her daily ride. How could she ever love Teru? She still wasn't over Amane and she doubted she ever would be. He was the one she loved how was she ever supposed to stop loving him? Nene tried to stop dreading his topic a long time ago but Amane just couldn't seem to leave her mind.

Soon Nene had come to a stop in a deserted part of the wood as she saw 3 men standing in front of her.

One of them spoke, or technically it was more of a question, "A word, my lady?"

Nene decided to listen as she nodded her head.

"We are but poor, lost circus performers. Is there a village nearby?"

Nene hears their question and is a little concerned about it, as they are in the middle of the woods. "There is nothing nearby, not for miles."

The one who had spoken earlier then says "then there will be nobody to hear you scream." Before Nene can do anything another one of the men grab her by her neck and drive her unconscious.

Tsukasa was ripping a piece of cloth off a uniform and putting it on the horse Nene rode into the woods on.

Suddenly Kou decides to ask him what he was ripping.

Tsukasa responds "It's fabric from the army uniform of an army officer of Guilder."

Mitsuba decides to pop in the conversation, still holding the princess, Nene, in his arms "Who is Guilder?"

Tsukasa responds, fairly agitated, "The country across the sea. The sworn enemy of Florin." He hits the horse away, "Go! Once the horse reaches the castle, the fabric will make the prince suspect the Guildarians have abducted his love. When he finds her body dead on the Guilder frontier, his suspicions will be totally confirmed."

Mitsuba looks a bit shocked and says "You never said anything about killing anyone."

Tsukasa continues, "I've hired you to help me start a war. It's a prestigious line of work, with a long and glorious tradition"

"I just don't think It's right killing an innocent girl."

A strong anger came out of Tsukasa's voice "Am I going mad or did the word "THINK" escape your lips? You were not hired for your brain, you girly pink boy!"

Kou jumps back into the boat, "I agree with Mistuba."

Tsukasa, still burning with anger replies "Oh! The sot as spoken! What happens to her is truly not your concern. I will kill her. And remember this. Never forget this! When I found you, you were so slobbering drunk, you couldn't buy brandy!" He turned away and looked over to Mitsuba, "And you! Friendless. Brainless, Helpless, Hopeless! Do you want me to send you back to where you were? Unemployed? In Greenland?" He finally turns and walks away leaving Mitsuba and Kou alone on their side of the boat.

Mitsuba starts to rise the sail of the boat as Kou walks up to him and starts to speak, "That Tsukasa, he can fuss."

Mitsuba repeats the word fuss to himself before coming up with a rhyme, "I think he likes to scream at us."

Kou responds "Probably he means no harm"

Mitsuba jumps right back at him with "He's really very short on charm"

Kou laughs and hits Mitsuba's back while laughing "You have a great gift for rhyme!"

Mitsuba decides to play it back and says "Yes. Yes. Some other time"

Tsukasa yells from the other side of the ship trying to stop them.

Kou tries to act serious and asks, "Mitsuba, are there any rocks ahead?"

Mitsuba quickly responds with "If there are, we'll all be dead!"

Tsukasa starts to yell "No more rhymes now I mean it!"

Mitusba laughs again and says "Anyone want a peanut?"

Tsukasa groans in defeat as the ship continues to sail farther from the Florin border.
