We are but beings, categorised by the unchosen characteristics we are bestowed upon at childbirth. Race, gender and the actions of our parents are things we do not have say in, in any circumstance. As the genius philosopher Socrates said "virtue is the key to true happiness", it does not necessarily mean that all humans will accept you just because you are an individual who believes and/or mentally, personally, enforces that particular statement. That to me is the definition of ignorance. A characteristic found in humans who judge people just because they can, regardless of there personality. And in my personal opinion, an ignorant person is an evil one.
