_______
K's POV

I stared at the note a bit, thinking about what to do with it.

He's sweet for a guy who kills people for a living.

His handwriting was fairly good. I folded it, slipping it into my coat pocket. The sun had set but it wasn't completely dark out yet. I say one last goodbye to Leyla, throwing my fluffy coat
hood over my head, exiting the building. My apartment was only about a 5 minute walk from my workplace, but it was terribly cold outside.

I turn a couple corners before making it to my avenue. I hopped up the stairs, putting in my key card to open the front door to my apartment building.

Jose, the building's security guard was asleep at the desk in the front. I walk past him and into the elevator, clicking the button for the 21st floor. It took a minute to reach my floor, but the elevator slowly opened after a bit. I trud to my room, taking the keys out my pocket and slipping them into the keyhole, turning the knob to open my door.

The apartment lights were on.

I hadn't turned them on this morning, there was no reason to.

My heart begins to race as I scan the area in my view. The apartment looked untouched from what I remembered, the light was the only thing off.

Maybe I accidentally hit the switch before I left? I breathe in and out a few times before shutting the door behind me, making sure to lock it.

I pull my hair out of the extremely tight ponytail that had already given me a headache. Slipping my arms out of each coat sleeve, I take it off; bringing it to my bedroom in the back of my apartment.

My phone dings causing me to pull it out of my pocket.

I leave my coat on my chair, knowing i'll have to get it tomorrow. I head to the bathroom, turning the faucet nozzle; starting a warm shower for myself.

I drop my clothes to the bathroom floor, stepping in. I let the water hit my face, gliding my hands down my hair.

After finishing my shower, I stepped into a pink satin wig, damping a cotton pad with witch hazel to clean my face.

The time on my phone read 7:46. I sat on my living room couch, beginning to search a movie. I see something move from my peripheral vision. I turn to my left, seeing that someone had been slid under my door. An envelope.

I hop off the couch, cautiously investigating. I pick up the envelope, staring through my peephole to see if anyone had slipped it under. No one was in the hallway.

I slip my finger through the envelope, opening the top flap. I pull out what was another mostly empty piece of paper. The small letters at the top read,

don't forget to lock your door again
