Your favorite part of the day is always walking home after school. You usually stay late, "studying" (reading) in the library. Today it had started pouring rain- and you'd forgotten your umbrella, again.
Water drips down your face, but you don't mind. The rain makes the bustling city seem calmer, and together with the stillness of night, it's perfect.
Or it would be, if it wasn't for the unnerving feeling you were being followed. You'd made three unnecessary turns and crossed the road twice, and it was still there. You kept checking over your shoulder, but there was never anyone to be seen, and you were starting to feel silly. It was late, you were tired- and probably just being paranoid.
Your phone buzzed from within your backpack, and you look around for shelter so you can check the message without soaking your phone. You duck into a dimly lit alleyway and shrug off your bag, unzipping it.
You hear footsteps splashing behind you and grab for your pocket knife, trying to find it buried among all your schoolwork. Someone taps your shoulder and you turn to face them, clutching the small knife in your hand.
"Are you going to stab me with that?" Asks the girl, her voice quiet and sweet. She looks to be about your age, sixteen, and is wearing a school uniform. The wet fabric clung to every inch of her soft figure, leaving nothing to the imagination. She had blonde hair (which was cutely styled in two messy buns) and porcelain skin, which made her slender amber eyes stand out. She was pretty- really pretty.
She was clearly also just walking in the rain, probably on her way home from cram school.
"Um, hello?"
"Sorry!" You said, and then, awkwardly, "I wasn't going to stab you."
"Too bad." She giggles, stepping closer to you. "I wouldn't mind getting all beat up by a cutie like you!"
You press your back to the wall, trying to keep your distance, and she grins. "You're cute when you're scared!" Her hand reaches up to pat your cheek and you flinch, making her laugh again. "You'll be even cuter all bloodied up."
"What? Stop it." You say, shoving her away. Whatever security you'd felt had vanished, and you realized maybe you'd been right to feel as if you were being followed. It must've been her.
"I thought you'd understand!" She lunges forward and sweeps your legs out from under you, slamming you to the ground. You lay there trying to catch your breath as cold water seeps through your clothes, the girl staring down at you. "I think.. I could.. No! Not yet!" She giggles, blushing. "(Y/n)! We're the same!!"Her blank expression morphs to one of glee, and she drops to her knees and straddles you, pinning your arms to your sides with her legs.
"Look." She tells you, holding up a glinting knife. "Mine is bigger!" She giggles and you scowl.
"Get the fuck off!"
The cold metal bites into your neck as she holds the knife against you, watching your expression. You keep a carefully blank face, even as she presses harder.
Warm blood mixes with the rain trickling down your neck as the the girl watches with a smile and an odd look in her eyes.
You flex your fingers and she doesn't notice as blood flows in their direction. It slithers along the ground almost like it's a living thing, going to wrap around your fingers like a friendly snake.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" The girl mumbles, bringing her fingers to the wound and pressing on it, making more blood spill out.
The knife finishes forming in your hand and you ram it into her thigh, making her scream in pain. You buck your hips and she loses her balance, giving you the opportunity to push her off and stand up. Your knife had lost its structure as soon as you unclenched your fist, and your blood, now mixing with the girl's, melted back into a liquid before flowing back towards you.
You cup your hands and the blood collects in your palms. Bringing it to your lips, you swallow the mouthful of your blood.
You don't look back as you grab your backpack and run.
You don't stop running until you're home. Even after dinner and a warm shower, you can't seem to relax.
You don't sleep well that night.
stay tuned 😈 sorry this chapter is so short, the beginning of a story is always harder for me. give us a chance 🙏
