THE ALARM CLOCK RANG, its sound echoing throughout the room. ____ groaned, clicking on one of the buttons as the ringing stopped. Turning away from the alarm to head back to sleep, they shot up realizing what day it was. Rushing towards the bathroom they took a quick shower, threw on some comfortable clothes, took their bag, their phone, and ran out of the room.
They slowed down slightly due to the stairs as they tread on every step, careful not to trip and somehow die. ____ arrived at the dining room, seeing their mother. It was rare to see her as she would always be on business trips. ____'s mother had just finished preparing breakfast.
"Oh, ____! Just in time." She placed down the plate and headed to the sink. ____ took the food to the dining table and chewed on the food, looking out in the window. They glance at the clock, sighing in relief. It would be 20 minutes before school started. 'All that running for nothing' they thought. They placed their spoon down and turned on their phone, scrolling through the school chat.
Alas, the same topic as usual ; the field trip. Except the atmosphere of the discussion felt more nerve-wracking. ____ was about to place their phone before getting a new notification from Skyla, they clicked on the notification to type back to them.

____ slid their phone into their pockets, quickly finishing breakfast. They waited for their mother to finish eating. They scrolled on their phone, overhearing her calls. One caught their eye as it was about the field trip, it was their father calling and telling their mother that it was going to be a 9 hour long trip, she almost spat out her food in shock.
