The helicopter landed in the middle of a track field that was on the campus of Folsom Middle School, the middle school I went to before I started high school. The helicopter let my friends and I and the soldiers out before leaving. The soldiers formed a circle around us and we marched across the campus to the two story building where we heard Max was this time a day.
We entered the building and walked up the stairs. In front of me, I saw Justin change to look like the principal, Mr. Jacobs. He then walked in front of the group and led us to classroom 316. He knocked on the door and a student answered, letting us in when he saw Justin.
"Mr. Jacobs." The teacher said, surprised. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm here for Max Carter." Justin answered in the best Mr, Jacobs voice he could do.
While he said that, two soldiers went for Max. Max stood up and followed the soldiers back to the group. I resisted the urge to punch him in the face and resorted to glaring at him with all the hatred I could muster. I heard someone gasp and I felt Ryan step behind me. I looked around the classroom and saw a girl whispering to her friend. They must have saw Ryan's abilities. I hid Ryan behind me as we walked out of the classroom.
We walked to the school parking lot where we had two black jeeps waiting for us. Justin turned back to his normal self as we walked to the cars. Me, Ryan, and X'zaver sat in the first jeep and Justin, Max, and Julie sat in the second. The twins were just going to run in between the cars.
We drove to a house a couple blocks away from a elementary school and parked in front of it. It was a two story house and the front door was on the right indented into the house and not next to the garage. We got out of the car, my friends and I inside a circle of soldiers, and headed towards the door.
The soldiers knocked on the door, calling for someone to answer it before they busted the door open. No one answered so they kicked the door open. Max led us to where he said Jack was held, which was weird. Normally the villains don't lead you to where you wanted to go. Unless...
We went down the stairs and that was were we hit trouble. Right as we got off the steps, we were shot at. The soldiers shot at where the bullets were coming from, protecting us. Because I could heal quickly if the wound wasn't fatal, I snuck away and walked along the edges of the cells, looking for Jack.
I was half way to the back of the room when I got shot. Luckily the bullet hit my leg. I screamed in pain and fell to the ground. I immediately felt my body fix the wound and I heard the bullet drop to the ground as my body rejected it. I picked up the bullet, clean because my body cleaned it of the blood, and put it in my pocket. I then got up and continued my walk.
When I got to the last cell, I saw Jack. He was just like X'zaver said he was. He was chained to the wall with his wings tied to his back with chains. What I didn't know was that he had very little food. He was skinnier than before.
"Gene!" He called, grateful.
"Jack!" I called back. I searched my pockets for the lock pick I was given. I found it and unlocked the cell, running to him and hugging him.
"I'm so glad you found me." Jack smiled.
"I'm glad too. You look hungry. Let me unchain you. When we get back to the lab, I'll cook you a nice big meal." I said, letting go of him.
I unlocked the chains that were restraining Jack then helped him up. He stretched his wings while we were walking to the door. Once out of the cell, I protected him as we walked back to the soldiers who were still shooting our attackers. I saw we had killed three people but they killed three of our people as well. Jack and I got in the middle of the remaining soldiers and turned to the stairs.
