Anastasia was walking home happily thinking about all sorts of things that just popped into her head. She smiled at anyone who walked past her. She was two minutes away from home, when 'BOOM'.
A strong force threw her to the ground. The taste of blood was in her mouth. The tip of her tongue was on the ground, her leg was in great pain, and her left arm was burning. She looked at her arm and saw red hot burning embers on it. She moaned and looked at her legs, one was twisted in an unusual way and she knew immediately that it was broken.
She looked around herself. All those people she smiled to were either lying in a pool of blood or unconscious on the ground. She smelt smoke and had a terrible headache. The last thing she saw was her home ablaze.
Ana was standing a few feet away from her mother who had died in a car crash two years back. She had blue eyes like Ana, long flowing brown hair and that familiar smell of her perfume was almost over powering. "Hi dear," her mother said gently.
Ana ran into her mother's loving arms and cried and cried. "It's okay baby. Mama is here," Angelique was running her fingers through her daughters short brown hair. "Remember that song I sang to you when you were little?" she asked Ana. Ana nodded. "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know dear how much I love you......"
this song had put Ana to sleep so many times, hearing it again made her remember all the times. Her mother sang the song over and over to Ana. When Ana soon realised that her mother was sliding from her grip and her singing was getting fainter. "No! I can't lose you again." Ana called to her mother. "Go back dear, send my love to your father, will you? Love you." Her mother called from a distance, leaving poor Anastasia in a sobbing heap.
Ana woke up to a bright light shining in her face. Her leg felt heavier when she tried to move but was stopped by a man's voice. "Uh uh. No let it rest," and so she did. "Where am I?" Ana asked the man.
"Central hospital, I'm your doctor Mr. Stan, and you have a dislocated leg, a severely burnt arm and a cut on your forehead," the doctor explained. "I also have no tongue tip," added Ana. She poked out her tongue at the man. "I see," he said as he scribbled this down.
Anastasia groaned and remembered her home on fire. "My Dad and brother, Where are they? Are they here? Can I see them?" "Calm down now, do you live at seventeen Leway road?" Dr. Stan asked. "Yes," was Anastasia's eager answer.
"Fire fighters fought the fire and brought out one survivor. One Mr. Philip Delta. Your father I'm guessing?" "That is correct, but where is my brother?"
"Brother?" Dr Stan asked puzzled. He searched through his papers. "There is no record of another body being found or another survivor," Dr Stan replied. "WHAT?! No, you must have rescued a 16 year old," Ana insisted. "I'm sorry, but no." The Dr Said sadly. Ana found a bowel and puked up all her meals the whole day.
The next few days were miserable for Anastasia Delta. After a month she visited her father a few times. His whole upper body was burned. He was in a coma and needed medical attention almost 24/7. "How did the bomb get here in the first place?" Anastasia asked Dr. Stan one night when he was inspecting her burnt arm.
"The Slyuca's planted it there in a straight line from your house to 141 Lakey Place," The doctor said. 'Why does that street sound familiar?' Ana wandered. "DANNY!" Ana exclaimed. "Calm down now Ana. Tell me, who is this 'Danny' person." Dr. Stan said calmly.
Ana talked about Danny for about an hour because the doctor needed a description of the boy. She got a little carried away. "He has smooth tan skin, around five foot six, um," Ana was dreaming now.
"Eyes like a field when the golden sun hits the grass that is gently swaying to the breeze, hair so smooth-" "Ana?" Dr. Stan waved his hand in her face. Ana seemed to have zoned out, but she had stopped talking. Dr. Stan creeped away silently leaving Ana to fall asleep.
Three days later, the hospital went crazy. Ana was enjoying her night sleep when doctors and nurses were calling to each other and she woke with a start. "Move that girl over here, that boy over there...." The night was long. She was to tired to stay up any longer and fell right back to sleep.
