A new someone was in Ana's hospital room the next morning. She gently pulled back the curtain and gasped. It was Juliana. She had a ventilator on her mouth and nose, left arm and leg was bandaged, and her right hand in a cast. "What happened?" Anastasia asked Dr. Stan. He replied, "Another set of bombs."
Juliana slept on quietly, occasionally saying words like "Watch out," or "Move." Suddenly she screamed and jerked upwards, breathing like she had just ran a two kilometre marathon.
The heart monitor raced as doctors rushed around trying to calm poor Juliana. "Where am I?!" Juliana screamed. One doctor ushered the extra doctors and nurses out the door.
"You are in the Central hospital and here next to you is Ana Delta," Dr. Stan said referring to the wide eyed Ana next to her. "Calm down now," the doctor said in his gentle relaxing tone of voice.
Juliana was gently laid down to keep resting, but when the doctor left, her blue eyes flicked open. "Ana? Is that really you?" Juliana asked. "I'm pretty sure I'm Anastasia Delta," was Ana's reply. "How are you feeling?" Ana carried on as she lay face towards the ceiling. "A bit helpless, uncomfortable and a bit swollen from the bandages but otherwise fine," said Juliana in an unhappy voice.
"You may be helpless, uncomfortable, and yeah turning a bit purple, but still, you are a strong, beautiful girl," Ana said passionately. "Wow," Juliana whispered. "That was, uh, inspirational? I guess," Juliana said, amazed that Ana would say something so passionately. "Yeah it better be, I worked hard on that speech just now. I think my brain is fried," Ana joked.
They both laughed and Juliana's heart monitor was off again. Ana decided that she would go to Danny for the first time. She had forgotten about him because she went to her dad all the time. Ana sat in her wheel chair and went into the long, marbled, corridor. It smelt like hand sanitiser.
She looked to her left and saw people with bandaged arms, legs, sometimes head, and a very unlucky someone who was wrapped in bandages from head to toe.
He looked like a mummy. To Anastasia's right, there was the same thing and she hated it. When she finally reached the front desk of that floor, she asked, "Which ward is Danny Royage please?" The woman receptionist was flipping and throwing papers anywhere. At last she said, "Ward 67 on this floor," Ana thanked her and carried on her way.
'61, 63, 65, 67! Got it' Ana thought excitedly. She pushed herself in and saw Danny. His left arm was in a cast and his head was bandaged. "Danny?" Ana called. "Yea?" He said as he turned around. "Hi," she said cheerfully and started towards him. "Hello?" Danny seemed puzzled.
"You are who again?" He asked. "Don't you remember we ran into each other yesterday? Where I gave you a hotdog? Do you remember Anastasia Delta?" Ana asked desperately. He shook his head. "Do you remember this?" She asked as she wheeled right up to him and got up.
She kissed him with passion and surprisingly, he kissed back. She enjoyed the way he kissed and went more into it. He was a great kisser and she couldn't think of anything else during this wonderful event and she didn't want to.
Sure, she had made up that he kissed her yesterday, but it was totally worth it. She was the first to pull away. "Wow," was the only thing that escaped the boy's lips. She kissed him again on the cheek quickly to say goodbye.
Then Anastasia sat back down in her wheelchair, turned around, and charged into the sanitiser smelling corridor. She left with her heart racing and a magnificent smile on her face.
"What happened?" Juliana asked as the Ana's big grinning face flew in through the door. "You know that Danny boy I told you about?" "The one when you were talking about him and kind of drifted away?" Juliana said with a hint of a teasing tone in her voice. "Yeah. Anyways, I kissed him!" Anastasia broke the news and smiled again.
"Wow. Really? Did he kiss back? Tell me!!" Juliana exclaimed impatiently. "Okay, okay, yes he did, and he is really good," Ana said and started to remember that one special moment. Ana sighed a dreamlike sigh. "Oh no. Here we go again," Juliana sighed. Juliana picked up her plastic cup from a set of drawers next to her, scrunched it up, and threw it Ana. She missed. She did it again and bullseye.
The cup had hit Anastasia's forehead. Ana shook her head. There was a pain in her head again and she didn't know why. "Did I hit my head or something?" Ana asked Juliana. "No you just need a lie down." Giggled Juliana.
Ana got out of her wheelchair and lay down on the warm blankets and comfy pillow in bed and said with tears on her eyes, "I miss my brother," and was fast asleep. Juliana looked at Ana sympathetically. Then looked at the time, it was seven past four in the afternoon.
