*Emily's POV *

I can not believe it! Who am I kidding? Of course Michelle was going to be such good friends with the guy who showed up late.

"What are you doing here? I thought your mom wouldn't be transferred for another couple of months," she said with a smile on her face.

"So did I. But turns out she was transferred this week, so we came. I saw that the studio that won Regionals was holding auditions for alternates, and I thought, 'What the heck? I'm new here, I might as well try.' I had no idea you were going to be here." OK. What's going on?

I clear my throat loudly, and they both turn to look at me. "Do you wanna, maybe, tell us what's going on here?" I ask.

"Oh. Right. Guys, this is Hunter. He was one of my best friends in Madison. His mom works with my dad."

"Uh, hi." He smiles. Hmm. He's kinda cute.

Too bad he's the enemy.

"OK, guys!" Kate says as she walks in. "Are you ready?" They all said yes and started cheering. "Alright! Let's get started. First group will be Jake, Emma, Hannah, Noah, and Richelle." We all started cheering as I took my place between Michelle and Pheobe.

I was particularly surprised at how good Richelle and Noah were. They are both in J-troupe, so to see them come in and do just as good as everyone else, if not better, was just so amazing. We could definitely use someone like that on the team.

It was now time for the final group, which includes Hunter. Honestly, I'm actually looking forward to seeing how well he dances.

When it's his turn, he does these really cool tricks, and I immediately know that he's a breakdancer. Then, he does this one move where he takes off his hat and starts sliding on his head. It was really good. He was really good.

Once we see the last person perform, we all cheer, and Miss Kate tells them that they were all so brilliant, and they made it really hard for us to decide. I do have to agree with her on that one. I'm still worried about one of them taking one of our places, but I'm not going to sabotage the team just to get what I want. I'm still the Dance Captain.

As we talk about it, we decide that Jake, Morgan, Cass, Noah, Richelle, and Hunter have definitely made it. Honestly, I hate to admit it, but Hunter was probably the strongest dancer for me. He would be a good asset to the team.

Besides, he's a breakdancer, so if he replaces anyone, it'll be James or West. Too bad it can't be both.

*James's POV*

So right now, we're all in the studio, waiting to see what 12 dancers have been chosen to move on to choreography. I'm currently talking to Eldon and West.

"Dude. Did you see the J-troupers, though?" West says.

"Oh, I know. They were sick!" I say. Eldon nods.

"If they don't make it to choreography, I'm gonna be so shocked." I couldn't agree more.

Just then, we see Hunter talking to Riley. And, of course, because we're some of Michelle's best friends, we approach them.

"Hey, guys. What's up?" West says as if he's been best friends with the both of them since he was 2. Riley laughs while Hunter just gives a weird look.

"Um...hi?" He says, obviously unsure if he should be talking to this crazy guy. West, Eldon, and I smile and look at Riley. Then Hunter turns to Riley.
