Thursday, November 19th 1987. Xavier's school for gifted youngsters is home to mutants across New York, the students learn about their powers, but also math, English, science and more...
Scott Summers, Jean Grey, Kurt Wagner, Ororo Munroe, Bobby drake and Jubilation Lee all head to science class. They arrive and sit down, their teacher: Dr Hank McCoy begins the lesson. A jet is heard flying above the school, they brush it off. "Did you do the homework?" Asks Bobby. "No, Why?" Replies Scott. "I was hoping you could give me the answers" Bobby replies half joking. Scott smiles and laughs a little bit.
Jean looks over at them with an annoyed expression and Scott sees and smiles at her. She just goes back to her work. Another jet flies by, a lot louder than the previous but they ignore it. Hank overhears Scott talking and tells him to be quiet, Scott ignores him and keeps going.
"Alright Mr Summers, since your so smart that you don't need to listen let's see your homework" Before Hank can open it the alarms start going off. "I... I don't think a drill was planned today?" Hank whispers to himself. "Alright... let's get moving!"
The class starts to move and sirens are blaring everywhere, people are running and the jets outside are heard again, closer than ever. It's now clear to the class that whatever is circling them. It isn't jets.
A wall explodes on the other side of the school and the class looks over and sees something through the flames and rubble of the wall, something much bigger than them.
Hank rushes them towards the exits, telling them to ignore the screams and just keep moving. Once the class exits the building they stand outside in the gardens, they look up and see a shadowy army of floating huge bodies, firing down without emotion. "Is that a sentinel?" Shouts Scott worryingly.
"No... those aren't legal yet! Even then they can't attack the school it's- it's illegal! T-there's something wrong just keep moving!" Screams Hank
They run through the gardens and try to avoid the incoming fire. A sentinel spots them and it's glowing eyes peer over to them, it looks down and aims it's hand at them, it fires down and the team are forced to turn back around and go run to the back of the school.
The sentinel follows them with its eyes and fires a hole in the mansion, the rubble blocks them and it readies another shot.
"Kurt, you have to teleport us! Get us to the bottom of the school there's a hidden set of tunnels!" begs Hank.
"I-I've never teleported that many people at once!"
"Do it just try!"
The laser shoots down but it's stopped somehow. The team look and see a gigantic ice wall, Bobby struggles to keep it up.
"Go Kurt now this is our chance!" Bobby screams trying to resist the pain.
Kurt teleports the team away and they arrive beneath the hill the school rests on.
A metal door is built into the rocks, Hank runs over and opens it.
"Come on! Inside quick!"
Before they can make it a sentinel splashes into the ocean sending out a wave of water over the team.
It aims its hand at them and it's palm grows brighter and brighter. Scott's glasses lie on the floor after being flung off by the water he looks at the sentinel and opens his eyes, a huge blast shoots out and obliterates the sentinel's hand.
Scott passes out after letting out the blast and he is carried in by the others.
They run through tunnels, not able to make out what it all is due to the lack of light. Hank opens a door and a massive jet lies there, looking like it hasn't been flown in years.
"Everyone in!" Screams Hank.
They flood in and lay Scott down. Hank flies them away from the burning ashes of what once was their school. The one place where they were safe now lies in piles of rubble and debris.
The team head forward, unsure of what the future holds they hope for the best but after this, they aren't sure if they'll ever have a home again.
