Chapter 1 

Ally

I wake up to my alarm blaring in my ear, I reach over and shut it off. I get up and start getting ready for work. I work at a bookstore in downtown Seattle. I moved here 6 months ago to hopefully get away from my parents.

They hated the fact that I didn't want to go to college. My mother is a nurse and my father is lawyer so there expectations for me have always been high, when i told them i didn’t want to go to college they threw a fit.

My brothers supported me though, my older brother Liam has always been my best friend no matter what he’s always supported me and helped me when i needed it, my younger brother Eli didn’t like i wasn’t going to colloge but he didn’t really care, we have never been close, when i was still at home he was either at school or with friends, i tried to get closer with him but he’s just like my parents, stuck up and thinks he's better than the rest because he lives in a big house. Guess you can say family dinners are never fun. 

I lock my apartment and start walking to work. I don’t have enough money for a car so I either have to walk or get an uber. As I'm walking I feel light rain fall on me. I curse at myself remembering I didn't bring my umbrella. 

I get into work, my clothes now wet and sticking to my body. I go around the store cleaning up any books that people have knocked over and left laying on the floor.

I get into an aisle and notice a man sitting on a chair with his back facing me reading a book.

“Staring isn’t nice love” the man says turning around to look at me “I’m sorry sir i didn’t know anyone was here you startled me” i say and start putting books back on the shelfs, i bend down to pick up a book on the floor when i feel someone behind me, i stand up and turn around to see the man who was reading in the chair.

“Can i help you sir” I say looking up at him, he doesn’t say anything he just moves me aside and puts his book back on the shelf and walks out the store.

“That was weird” i say to myself and continue working 

5:30 finally hits and i get ready to go home when i see the same man from earlier walk in the store, “why is he back” i whisper so he doesn't hear me.

“Now is that anyway to greet your customers” he says looking me in the eyes.

“How did he hear me?” I say in my head so he can’t hear me.

“I’m sorry sir” i whisper loud enough for him to hear me.

he walks over to the counter and puts his hands on it, he doesn’t say anything he just stares at me.

“Can i help you, cause if not then i need to leave” he still doesn’t say anything.

“Sir really if you don’t need anything please leave so i can” i say getting annoyed as he continues to stare at me.

Then finally he says “What’s your name love”.

love?

Did he really just call me that? 

“Ally” 

Asher

“Ally” she says.

Ally.

I repeat what she said in my head.

“Such a beautiful name for a beautiful girl”

I watch as her cheeks turn red from my comment. I don’t wait for her response. I turn and walk out of the bookstore.

This morning i went to the book store before work, i don’t know why i did, something just told me to.

As I'm walking back to my car I see Ally walk out and I watch as she gets in a car, I watch as the car drives off, getting brought out my daze  when my phone starts ringing.

“Yes Chris” i say answering the call

“Asher get your ass over here now, what the fuck were you thinking” Chris says

god this man always has to bitch about everything. I hang up the phone and start driving through the woods to Chris’s house.

I reach the house and walk in, the second i get in Chris is already bitching

“ Asher are you fucking insane we just calmed the peace with the wolfs and you go out and pick a fight with one of them you’re lucky you’re already dead or id kill you” he says getting in my face.

After I left the book store this morning I ran into one of the wolves at a coffee shop. He came over to me asking about my family. He got mad when I told him to get away from me because he smelled like a wet dog. “I didn’t start a fight Chris, I just said he smelled like a wet dog and I guess he didn’t like that" I say he didn't really care about what I did.

“ Jesus Asher stop being an idiot and stop with picking fights with the wolfs'' Chris's wife Olivia says sitting down on the couch.

“If that's all you wanted then i’ll be leaving i have things to do'' Chris nods his head and i start walking out the door when Olivia stops me

"Asher"

"Yes Olivia"

"A hunter is lurking around Seattle, be careful" she says looking worried

"Olivia i told you not to tell Asher about that" Chris says looking at his wife annoyed

" Christopher Farris he needs to know, now get that stick out of your ass before i stake you with it" Olivia says rolling her eyes at her husband

I just leave and let them fight, not trying to hear Chris bitch anymore. i love him but he's a pain in the ass

always has something to nag about or find something to start a fight over

sometimes i wonder how Olivia has been married to him for so long

When I get home I take a shower and think about Ally. I don’t know why she's on my mind. I haven’t been able to get her off my mind since I saw her this morning .

I decided to go work on things to hopefully get her off my mind. It’s now 8:00 am and I stand up and walk out of my office

Never sleeping gets really annoying after a while

Always doing the same thing everyday gets old

I get dressed and go to see Ally. I walk into the book store and see her sitting behind the counter talking on the phone, i walk over to her and stand in front of the counter staring in her eyes, she says goodbye to whoever she was talking to and brings her eyes to meet mine.

“Good morning Ally'' i say and her cheeks go red.

“Good morning” she says still staring in my eyes.

As i stare at her i think how stupid this is, shes human, she has a soul, i can’t do this to her. I have to get away from her before this gets worse

If Chris ever knew what i was doing he'd kill me

Again

“Good bye Ally ''

I don't wait for her to speak, I just turn and walk out of the bookstore and get back in my car.
