The tournament started, and everything went to Hell during Katsuki's first match.
Katsuki had been matched up with Ochako, and Ochako silently thanked anyone who was listening that she had been training in combat with Kirishima. Kirishima wasn't the best teacher, but he sure as heck knew how to fight, and that's all that mattered. Kirishima tended to rely on his strength and brute force to get through a fight, and given that Ochako had neither, she had gotten used to using what she did have to her advantage. Looking at the opponent in front of her, she suddenly felt grateful she had Kirishima as practice. Katsuki Bakugo had a stare as hard and cold as steel and a dangerously short temper. He was scarily efficient and more than that, his explosions were a dangerous weapon. With what little Ochako knew about her classmate, he wouldn't go easy on her. Midnight called the match, and Ochako ran at Katsuki, ready for the fight. Katsuki went for his signature right hook, and Ochako just barely dodged the attack and the powerful explosion that followed.
She scrambled out of the way of a follow-up attack and brushed her hand against some of the debris on the ground, floating it into the air. She started to fall into a rhythm. Dodge, duck, go for an attack, and whenever she was inevitably knocked on the ground, she got back up.
Dodge, duck, attack, and soon, even that felt impossible. Soon, she pulled to the side, and when smoke filled the air, she pressed her fingers together to drop the debris onto the field.
She might have won if the ground didn't disintegrate under her feet.
Ochako didn't know what happened, but when she lifted her head, groggy and confused, she was trapped under a piece of metal. It didn't hurt, but it had her pinned to the ground. She looked around at her surroundings, trying to figure out what had happened and find a way out. It looked like most of the stadium had collapsed. The sound of small children crying echoed through the rubble, and the screaming and crying of several people filled Ochako's ears. She stretched to try and reach the rubble pinning her down, but it was just out of reach, and the more she stretched, the more it seemed to hurt.
She grit her teeth and stretched once more, managing to touch the rubble and lift it off of herself with her quirk. Ochako wriggled out of the spot and dropped the rubble. She checked herself for injuries, finding some scrapes, a bloody nose, and a headache. She felt sick, like she was about to throw up. What happened? Right, she had been in a fight with Katsuki, and she had done something... And then the platform broke, at least she thought so. "Is anyone here?" Ochako climbed to her feet, wincing at the pain in her head. "Is anyone there?"
"Are you okay?" A familiar voice caught her attention. Ochako whirled around, seeing someone she hadn't expected. Izuku Midoriya.
"I think," Ochako said, rubbing her head. "My head hurts." She remembered something else. "Wait, I shouldn't be able to talk to you, you're dead."
"Oh. Kachan- Katsuki, I mean, must have told you, then," Izuku said quietly.
"No, it was Kirishima," Ochako said. "Bakugo told him that you had died."
Izuku was silent for a moment. "Do I scare you?" he asked.
"Huh?"
"Does it scare you? Y'know, because I'm dead?"
"I don't know." Ochako shook her head.
"Well, you're gonna have to decide quickly, because there's some people that are hurt. We need to track them down, but lucky for you, I know where they are."
"Some people are hurt?"
"The entire stadium collapsed," Izuku said. "I think I can find the source, but I'm gonna need your help to get everyone to safety."
